I like the idea of adding Lester, but he'd have to be willing to come to Atlanta at a steep discount. That seems unlikely given the exceedingly deep wallets of the other bidders (ChC, BOS, come to mind immediately).
He is from the Atlanta area. He probably won't, but you just never know.
True.
Just found this: In April, Lester purchased a $3.4 million mansion in the Atlanta area and plans to spend the offseason in the affluent Pleasant Hills area according to Realtor.com.
Hart has a plan. We are going to be pitching dominant. I saw this coming with freeing up some space yesterday.
It does indeed seem to be his plan. The question is whether it is a good one.
Can I have a meeting with the Braves too? I think I have as much chance of being signed as Lester does after how the Braves are showing that they are in rebuilding mode.

So we're gonna invest 20+ million in a 32 year old pitcher in which we have plenty of... but won't invest $20+ million to a 25 year old potential star (already star) right fielder.
well ok

What about Lester at 5 years / ~$90MM?
If not, what would be an acceptable number (considering the team's budgetary constraints and need to address some huge offensive holes)?
