Anyone that gets exceptionally fired up about the casting of fictional characters is pretty awful. There are also people that get mad when there are movies about women or minorities or when you have a female ghostbusters project. Kind of crappy all around.

The Seminole tribe should be offended by the FSU football program's descent into obscurity.

The other brands aren't representing a specific organization, so I think it would be difficult to develop a relationship similar to the one shared by FSU and the Seminole tribe. It would be interesting to see the response if the Braves were to come to an accommodation with some small and unrecognized tribe, like the Euchee, who have roots in Georgia and are basically forgotten.

They should do it for every sports team that has something to do with them. The Indians, the Chiefs, The Braves, The Redskins, The Blackhawks, The Seminoles... All of them. I'll make my final point this way: If Atlanta were getting an expansion baseball team, what would be the final five nicknames in the inevitable contest?

Kings (I made that point jokingly earlier)
Thrashers (it was a great choice once before)
Georgia Peaches
Phoenix
???

None have the comfy sound that "Braves" has, to me.

People should be more upset about Disney making another sub par movie as a cash grab than the skin color of a character.

Fake controversies happen all the time. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if the marketing team for the movie stirred the pot.

I follow right wing twitter and don't remember any comments and all of the posts in the trending tab were complaining about the supposed controversy. I really think that's all it was.

Remember the AOC dancing thing? It was some random low follower count twitter dude who said something and it blew up into a huge controversy. It was based on nothing.

Remake? You mean the Netflix show? Ciri is being played by a white actress.

As she should be. I mean, it’s a series of books based on middle European folklore and takes place in an alternate reality Europe. Not a lot of room for racial diversity there.

Not that I’d throw my arms up in the air if she wasn’t or anything.

I'm talking about when they put out the initial casting calls they were actively searching for a PoC for that role and auditioned several. There was a big hubbub about it, but ultimately they ended up giving the role to some white girl.

I already do for his pro DH stance. Manfried doesn't give a bleep about tradition which is sad in today's sports. But every commish has to make their mark.
