Yes! More unknown scrubs to pitch at the major league level.
Corresponding move was Williams Perez to 15 day DL. DOB and Bowman speculating that Banuelos could be in line to start in place of Perez next week. Alex White would seem to be the other option based on schedule.
White would require a corresponding 40-man roster move. Do they have a vacancy now the Brigham is on it??
With Brigham, the 40-man is now full. There are certainly some guys the Braves could DFA and pass through waivers if they preferred White (Sugar Ray, Adonis, Elmer, Kohn?). I'm hoping it's Banuelos though.
I wouldn't even consider dropping Kohn, and why even add Garcia to drop him now without giving him any shot? He also might be claimed since he has options and is doing well in AAA. Kohn is someone you want in your bullpen when healthy, so only thing to consider there is maybe 60-day DL if he isn't close to returning.
Banuelos slung 72 pitches in 3 innings tonight, giving up 3 runs on 4 hits (4BB).
Yea, he had a bad game but so did everyone tonight for Gwinnett pretty much pitching wise. They were facing a good minor league line-up with solid prospects and Major league hitters including Victorino on rehab. Wisler had a terrible start just before his great start for us so I wouldn't be concerned about one bad game.
Good point on the 60-day DL for Kohn. He probably has the most value of any of the guys I mentioned if healthy. Still, he's a FA after this year and out of options. Not sure the Braves will want to offer him a major league deal for 2016 and carry him on the 40-man. As for Garcia, I'd be very concerned if the Braves kept him on the 40-man beyond this season. We should start to see some 40-man casualties soon since we need to add Arodys, McKirahan, Toscano, and Withrow in the next month or two.
I'm not, meant for to be inserted as a side-note.
I think Man-Ban has earned his shot, if they choose him.
