Braves sign AJP to 1-year deal, again

No Lucroy or other catcher this winter. Piezynski was a priority for ATL, now catching taken care of this yr

Catcher was always going to be the trickiest need to fill given the thin FA crop and general positional scarcity. Now the FO can be patient and buy and trade based on value.

I still would of liked to see Bethancourt get all the playing time last year after the break. We had nothing lose from it. At 3 million he could be a good bench piece to if a better catcher is brought in.

Likely got the best value signing out there all things considered, but a low price tag made this a no brainer for the brass I bet.

Exactly. So I will retort and say that this is meh. I expected it and it still sucks. There. The bitchiness continues.

I think the bitchness exists because people want to win...I know football is in full effect but let's not forget how painful last season was.

+10000...last year was extremely difficult for Braves fans, losses like we haven't seen in years and trades that split the fan base.

AJ was solid last year, but from discussions here, I think many hoped for a potential upgrade at C. I'm an AJP fan, as a backup. All in all, I'm glad he's back and love the price we got him at.

It's awesome to see AJ actually want to come back and take less to do so.

Nonetheless, he's need to be a bench piece and we sign a full-time guy.

Braves prepping him to replace Fredi in 2017.

Then people will be happy because he'll go out and get thrown out like Bowa.
