Braves sign Bautista

Never been a fan. This only makes sense if the Braves view themselves as being in the WC hunt. Otherwise, he just sucks ABs from guys who need them more.

"That's just unnecessary" or "Show some class" or "Act like you been there" or "I get we are in a new era, but I don't like all this stuff showing up your opponent. Not good for the game".... Its going to be hilarious.

Hopefully they put bat flips on the scoreboard

I don't really see the downside here. Worst case scenario we waste a little bit of money. Likely scenario, he moves into a bench role as some pop from the bench. Dream scenario his power returns bringing us into the playoffs or becomes a piece we can trade for an asset.

Bautista dramatically flips his bat as he hits a walk-off homer against Max Scherzer, who was going for a complete game shutout! The run ... clinches the NL East!

This is an absolute no brainer. Odds are Bautista is done but considering the investment and the fact that it's not like our other options are world beaters, it's absolutely worth taking a chance. Maybe he has a late career renaissance.

Interesting to say the very least. If he starts hitting just a bit and isn't an absolute butcher at 3B, surely that would mean the end of Flaherty and Bourjos' tenures here.

With Joey Bats at 3B, Camargo as your utility infielder, and Acuna up soon the offense could be pretty exciting with a bench consisting of Flowers/Suzuki, Camargo, Tucker, and Adams.

Sure, it's probably a pipe dream that either Bautista hits OR has enough glove to stick over there, but it's fun for the fans.

I think this move is a signal the FO believes Flaherty and Ticker will start playing like Flaherty and Tucker again.
Whenever you think the Braves have a chance at the WC remember these 6 names so you will come back to your senses.
1. Flaherty
2. Tucker
3. Perez
4. Culberson
5. Bourjos
6. Adams

So I guess it also signals what they think of Camargo?

Culberson is a bench piece that can play multiple position that was going to be on the team no matter what.

Peanut Butter, a defensive replacement for Tucker for the time being. Nothing more.

Perez is backing up until Flowers comes back. That's it.

Adams, speed guy. I don't care for him, but I understand why he is on the team.

Tucker is trying to keep LF warm until Acuna comes up.

Flaherty..can't remember if we signed him before or after Camargo got hurt. He started off hot, but has cooled significantly. He will be demoted/benched/cut when Camargo comes back up.

Some of those guys have had big plays at the plate or a big defensive play. I don't think they will be counted on to "carry" this team to the WC
