Braves sign David Carpenter

Braves1976

It's OVER 5,000!
One David Carpenter was not enough, so after we traded one we found another. Braves signed David Carpenter to a minor league deal.

MLBTR: The Braves have inked former Angels reliever David Carpenter — not to be confused with the other right-handed reliever by the same name that Atlanta just traded. Carpenter has struggled in limited MLB exposure, but last year put up a 2.17 ERA over 62 1/3 innings, with 8.3 K/9 against 6.4 BB/9, despite pitching in the notoriously hitter-friendly PCL.

PS: Once we're done with David Carpenter part 2 we'll be trading him to the Yankees for their next Manny Banuelos. :)

Well David Carpenter part 1 was trash before we got him too. Atleast we won't have to worry about him blowing a key game I the playoffs.

Dat walk rate tho.

That posted walk rate is incorrect. The ERA last year was 2.17, but the K/9 was 8.4 and his BB/9 was 3.6, which was very close to his minor league average of 9.0 and 3.7, career ERA of 3.00. Guy looks like he has been pretty good.

Yea, it was a sloppy post all around. He also didn't put up that ERA so much in the PCL as it gives the impression, but more in AA last year. Plus I caught one mistake right before copying and pasting it from MLBTR and changed it (where it reads "name" the MLBTR writer had "team", he obviously meant name given the context).

The Braves must have a scout that circles the Angels farm system like a vulture.
