Braves sign Strider!!! 6 years 75M (22M Club Option 29')

Strider-Suarez gassing 99-100mph in late inning situations next year is going to be ungodly nasty.

Strider too could have flexibility to go multiple innings like Smoltz did since he'd be a former starter.

You can't tell me Strider wouldn't be Kimbrelesque especially since he already has an elite slider, and can mix in a change.

That should no doubt be the plan and getting another legit ace should be priority 1.

Need to see Strider away from Coors before it's time to move him to the bullpen full time. But he can transition pretty easy to the bullpen if he cant keep it up in the rotation.

Still think Strider is much more valuable as a middle rotation starter and his stuff is more than sufficient to be that.

Depends. His stuff if truly declined, is only gonna have a peak max for about maybe 5 innings max. If he’s 4-5 innings in to a start and only hitting 94, it’s not gonna be pretty unless he becomes more efficient and less reliant on K’ing everyone.

Whereas if he was in the pen in high leverage, he could easily give you one maybe two innings.

He’d be gassing up to 99-100mph. Him and Suarez basically being closer by committee would be devastating.

Iglesias still too much pitch to contact for my liking. Walt probably won’t relinquish closer spot from Iggy either. So best we can hope for is Suarez is used against the high leverage part of the order no matter if it’s 8th or 9th. Most teams I still think Iggy is fine closing against heart of the order, but the top teams I want Suarez in to get Ohtani down, not Iglesias.

Fuck it new playoff strategy. 9 pitchers 1 inning each. Everyone pitches in every game. All we need are 9 guys capable of being elite for 1 inning.

Can Strider hit the velocity he needs out of the pen? I dont think he can.

Smoltz said as a closer he was gassing out high 90's but when he converted back to starter he was more in the 93-95 range.

Said he felt those 05-06 years as a starter he could have still gassed high 90's if only for an inning or two.

If strider is hitting 97 here and there as a starter I'd think he can still air it at 99 even 100 for an inning.

Thanks for the shout outs, guys, but I‘m pretty sure. Lot of people called this at the time.

It‘s the time now SS would be fighting his way back had he taken the „traditional“ TJS route. Let‘s hope yesterday’s start was evidence that the alternative approach may have been worth it.
Oh my fucking god you're alive

A traditional 2nd TJS is death though. Thats why he went for the brace.

And why the hell not, a third question because at this point, I believe you know how I legitimately feel about you🥹

... do you believe that the pendulum will ever swing back towards anything resembling the middle of the two extremes with regards to pitching and baseball? Or will the obvious continued effectiveness of high-spin rates and velocity continue to Rule the Day as pitchers continue to experience life as an NFL running back? 😭😭😭
