In their quest to find a second baseman, the Braves have signed Tyler Greene to a Minor League deal and assigned him to Triple-A Gwinnett, the team announced via Twitter. Greene, who turned 30 years old today, was released by the White Sox on Tuesday.

He was 1-for-3 with a hit, an RBI and a walk and two runs scored in Gwinnett's 4-2 win over Toledo.

I saw that but I hope he's just for minor league depth. Greene has been pretty bad defensively. He also doesn't bring much with the bat. When you consider his defense, I am not sure you'd even start him over Janish at second. He'd have to hit a lot better than he has in the past to consider it, IMO.

That said, I am all for extra infield depth in the minors. I am hoping the Braves signed him for depth while they keep looking for a better option.
