Braves @ St.Louis : 8/5/16 GDT

Is it worth it? His best ops year was '13 and he struck out 121 times in 629 PA. His k rate has gone up every year since

Well, he's currently having the second best OPS of his career right now, so I'd say it's been worth it compared to 2014 and 2015. ANd as long as he's hitting around .280 I can't say I care that much how much he strikes out. Freddie's also not getting any younger, I think we can pretty much expect him to start declining a little in the next couple years. I certainly don't expect him to consistently post 5 WAR seasons like he did in 2013 going into his late 20s, he's more of a 4 WAR guy. Not sure what you are expecting from him, he's a very solid player, not a super star.

I guess the frustration is that we all get "amped" when he's going well that it's all the more painful when he goes through these extended stretches when he can't get out of his own way.

The thing is all players have these stretches from time to time. The issue is our offense is pretty much terrible outside of Freddie, so if he's in a funk we go from being a horrifically bad offense to being completely unwatchable.

If we've ever had a streakier player, it doesn't come immediately to mind but, yeah, Freeman is striking out WAY too much.

I havent watched a lot over the past 162 games but before that Freeman was the most consistent player since Chipper. I would bet the problem is Freeman trying to do too much. He was always money with RISP before 2015.

The problem isn't just that he's making outs but he's not even coming close to giving himself a chance by getting the ball in play. Our offense is putrid enough that it just can't tolerate Freeman's inability to make contact for extended stretches.

Blackouts need to end period. If your not within a two hour drive there should be no blackout. But I am almost equal distance from Atl and DC and yet the Nats blackout the Braves feed on EI. Strange though sometimes that does not apply to MLB TV on a computer.

Yeah, I am not going to throw him under the bus because he struggled with RISP in meaningless games. These might as well be spring training games. If Freeman was hitting like every other year with RISP we might be 5-10 games better? Thats not a good thing right now.
