Braves trade LaStella

The love with LaStella was the hope that he could be an average hitter on a team that desperately needed someone to just be average instead of a giant black hole. And Peterson very well may be a better player than LaStella but he's likely destined for a utility role. I don't think he can hit enough to warrant being an everyday player.

Yeah, this. We had a better option and there was considerable enthusiasm about deploying it.

Peterson is a better player than La Stella. I think this trade was good.

Yeah, he's likely a better player by virtue of versatility, defense, and speed. He's not shown that he can hit any better than TLS, though. And yes, I agree that it was a good trade, even though I was a Viz skeptic and a critic of the trade, albeit an open-minded one.

I also forgot we had Gosselin as well when the season began. I don't know how good Gosselin will end up being, but I think he could at least stand at 2B for a season and put up a mid-.600 OPS.

I actually remember saying I thought there was a decent shot Gosselin became the better player. Really, between Jace, Goss, and La Stella; there is no winner.

I 100% prefer Jace over Gosselin and La Stella long term. Especially when you factor getting Arody's into the equation. But definitely prefer Jace.

If we had kept Gosselin, I'm pretty sure he'd be platooning with Jace. Going forward, I think it will be a platoon of Daniel Castro and Jace until Albies is ready.

Gosselin did his part as well in helping us net Touki. Maybe not as much as taking on Arroyo, but he was part of the equation.

Yes, I said he was a better player. Which is pretty resoundingly true. Much better defender, much better base runner, and I think easily more upside with the bat.

They certainly overstate the value of certain players. But not Peterson.

Again: Who said that it's not overstating Peterson's value?
I want to find these people saying these things and ask why they feel that way, that's all.

Using hyperbole and putting words in people's mouths is a poor way to try and make a point. To each their own ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I guess the question is... do you think Jace has been worth 1.1 WAR this year?

Because his offense has been dreadful

So what makes you think he's a good player then. The only thing that's made him a positive contributor this year is his defense and baserunning... and that's brought him to a menial 1 WAR

I said he is a better player than La Stella. Do you disagree with that?

And I still believe Peterson can improve as a hitter and be a more useful player. I'm pretty certain I've never wavered on that opinion.

I bet the Giants are glad they didn't totally give up on Brandon Crawford after his first one and half years of piss-poor offense.
