Braves vs. Phillies 5-10-16: Someone had to start it edition

The only good news about that is Ender isn't in CF to make that play earlier if Mallex is starting. But I agree that Mallex should start if up here, it's crazy we're losing a year on him this way.

Come on dude. Everyone knows that Framceour's PT and trade value build up is more vital than the priceless experience that Mallex could be receiving playing in the big leagues. (Sarcasm)

Speaking of that, another thing that annoys me is we have high pick in the Rule 5 but we do nothing with it. Philly got their CF and LF that way, Texas got their starting CF that way last year, Baltimore got Rickard that way. If any team should be doing that it's us! But instead we waste money on Boni and then Stubbs and Frenchy.

Didn't we get winkler thru rule 5? Have we got anyone since?

We did a year ago, but not with a high pick. This year according to BA we wanted someone taken ahead of our pick and had no back-up choices we liked. Rickard wasn't even on radar it seems, nor were a few others I liked.

Tyler Goeddel was our top choice. I like the pick for the Phils, but he's off to a miserable start at the plate.

He wasn't my top choice but I'd taken him, but we thought he was the only one worth a look as far as hitters go and I disagree with that. Plus nothing to lose in a rebuild anyway, so forget Boni or Stubbs, etc. Grab the best prospect kid you can get with that high pick.

One guy to look at for next year may be Trevor Plouffe. He'll be a FA after 2017, but he's arbitration eligible and the Twins have to get Sano out of RF and 3B is his likely landing spot. Could be a one-year tide-over guy that would add some power to the line-up.
