Bravos sign Profar.

I take this to mean that they will only target someone they think is an impact starter. Cease or bust, imo.

No...it really means they will take someone who's cheap as balls and is looking to bounce their career up..."Block Grant Holmes"....seriously? GTFOH.

I wonder if after he said block Grant Holmes he started laughing? Bc that is the biggest bull$hit line I've heard him say.

I mean no one seriously thinks Holmes is keeping them from acquiring any difference makers… but let’s be real… Holmes was pretty freaking good for a 4/5/spot starter. The peripherals were solid too

Did you watch the zoom call? He said any addition to the rotation needed to be demonstrably better than Holmes/Anderson, because those guys are out of options. A sight different than saying “we can’t block Grant Homes.”

Didn't watch it. Just read the paraphrase.

They wouldn't have been at Max Scherzer's tryout if they weren't testing the waters, but I'm sure it'll take someone like Flaherty or Cease to actually move Holmes back to the bullpen.

I mean, it’s common sense to understand what he meant without having actually heard what he said.

Someone has to pitch in striders spot to start the season, so Holmes will almost certainly pitch in the rotation early. Then when strider is ready someone will probably be hurting, and strider will replace that guy.

Any real SP the Braves acquire most likely won’t push Holmes anywhere. He’s a great 6th SP swingman type, and there will be plenty of innings for him.

I mean this was the move I wanted if we didn't get Adames. I wouldn't have paid Adamas nearly 200M.

I mean even on the low end of the risk, he still should be an average hitter.

Anyone claiming the floor for profar is “average hitter” hasn’t looked at his actual stats, and forgot the padres signed him for $1M last year.

That's because he was brutal the year before. Which can happen. but his career wRC+ is 99. He was miserable for the Rockies.

2018 107 wRC+
2019 90 wRC+
2020 113 wRC+
2021 87 wRC+
2022 110 wRC+
2023 Col 74 wRC SD 119 (sample size)
2024 139 wRC+

If we accept 2024 is the outlier we can also accept 2023 is the outlier too.

If we accept 2024 is the outlier we can also accept 2023 is the outlier too.

We can also accept he will be below average this year since it's an odd number year, according to your data.
