Bryce Harper Megathread

In all liklihood Trout will remain the better player. (roughly 1 year older). The shot Harper has to surpass him is his insane power potential. Dude has so much power for someone 20 years old.
 
Trout will probably hit around 25-30 HR's or so.

5-10 more HR's or so won't make up the other areas where Trout is far superior.

If you're talking averaging 40 HR's, that's a bit of a stretch tbh.
 
I think Harper probably has more talent than any young player in the game right now, but it wouldn't be a stretch to suggest he won't have much in the way of longevity, with how he plays.

Not that there's any shame in that, but he could afford to turn it down a notch if he doesn't want to cut his career short with injuries.

I think you're misunderstanding what I'm saying. I've already said I think Trout in all likelihood will be the better play for their careers.
But yes, Harper is talented enough that he could be one of those rare guys that hits 40-45 or close to it most years in his prime. I mean he's 20 and has 17 homers in 76 games. That pace over a 162-game season equates to 36 homers. At 20. Provided he stays healthy he can hit 40 pretty regularly, JMO. Some 40/20 seasons with a .300+ AVG are not at all out of the question.
 
If Harper's power potential is why someone would choose him over Trout well...

Trout is dominating the game in all facets. 'Nuff said.

I never said I'd take him over Trout. I love Trout. He's from a town very close to me. But I do think Harper will be a monster, and if all goes right won't be that far behind Trout.

Fair enough, but averaging 40+ is pretty tough.

Even still, it doesn't put him over Trout who is pretty much a perfect player.
 
Another positive, I don't think or get the impression Trout is an egomaniac deuche like Harper is.

Bobby Cox would probably take Trout over Harper 8 days a week.

This is something I pointed out, I think Trout is mentally leaps and bounds above Harper right now.

Again if power is what you're after, then ok take Harper.

Trout plays an excellent centerfield, has already matched his walk total from last year in 40 less games, a higher OBP, higher slugging than last year as well.

I just know Trout is almost like a stathead and scout's modern day dream player. STeals bases, high obp, has great power, plays excellent defense, etc.

He has no holes in his game.

He's the perfect player, and seems like an awesome guy off the field.

If anything, he's kinda underrated.

At the Phils/Braves game last Saturday the people behind me were talking about him and I butted in and said he's the best player in baseball. The guy said "no, i don't think so. isn't he hitting like .270?" I said nope, more like .330.

It seems not everyone realizes how amazing he really is.
I saw a girl with a sign at an Angels game that said "my bf loves mike trout more than (he loves) me." My gf said she can completely relate.

Im not sure anyone is taking Harper over Trout. All Im saying is that if Harper realizes the power potential that he has and has some 40+ homer seasons, it could be an interesting debate.

Thats because no one gives a **** about the Angels. He gets to play in a market dominated by the Dodgers. Thus, he doesn't get the recognition he deserves.

He should of got the MVP last year.

Funny how people say playoffs when the Angels won more games over the Tigers last year, lol, smh.

Only thing I don't like about Bryce is he plays for the Nats, loves the game, wish we had him tbh.
 
The power potential is nice but what about his douche nozzle potential? I mean at an early age he's demonstrated veteran like love for himself so I can only imagine what new heights this bro can reach...
