Bryce Harper Megathread

Are you familiar with hyperbole? As wheresmykayak says, Do you take what Freeman says literally?

Differences of what Freeman said and what Harper said.

Freeman - His was a cliche. Stepping on there necks while they are down is a cliche that has been used for years. YEARS.

Harper - Ive never heard anyone #1 say if they would have been winning they would have charged the mound and #2 he would have put Julio six feet under.

If anyone cant see the differences, ill pray for you.

It was pointed out to the reporter that its illegal in the States, but that wasn't good enough for the reporter.

So then it's perfectly alright to be disrespectful. Gotcha. But you're pretty much telling me that Harper let a simple question rattle him. Obviously a pretty good head on his shoulders. But please continue to explain how Harper's actions are everyone else's fault. Heaven forbid he take responsibility for the things he says...

It's ok because if you read earlier in the thread the media spliced together sentences to make Harper say that. Giles pointed that out...

My goodness, you are ridiculous so I'm going to just stop here. If that comment bothered you so much (and not asking an underage person what there favorite beer is), then you are highly sensitive.

If you actually grew up in an NFL Locker Room, I'm not sure how you survived.

Harper is a star baseball player. I doubt he ever takes responsibility for his words/actions bc there will always be bozos who will defend everything he does...and they will defend him simply bc he is very good at baseball.

Of course you're going to stop here. I asked a valid question and you have no way to counter it. But you just keep defending a maladjusted prick if that makes you feel better. Poor Harper. The big bad media is out to get him. Putting words in his mouth and whatever spin you can think of..

You know how you survive? You don't enable people that do stupid things and tell them it's alright because they are the best. You don't give them the time of day and you gravitate towards people that do things the right way. It's called finding role models who are actually good people. I know the ability to hit a baseball is more important to you than quality of character so it's hard for you to understand that.

And on the other end of the spectrum you have baseball fanboys that sit and read every little comment made by all of his rival teams and blows them up to make those players seem like the worst people in the history of baseball. Yet, those same people defend everything that the players on their team do. Simply bc they play on their team.

Just remember what use to be said of Gary Sheffield. Yet, he turned into an Angel as soon as he put a Braves cap on.

My goodness, you are ridiculous so I'm going to just stop here. Being good at baseball is all that matters. I worship the ground they walk on. I hope Harper will look at me one day so I can get a tingle up my leg. I'll beat up the media too since all they do is pick on him.

Funny I've made it pretty clear that I don't like when scumbags play for my team either but I guess we'll just ignore that like you ignore Harper's stupidity...

Im pretty sure in the gamethread or there shortly after, I said I felt bad for Harper. I dont like how pitchers drill batters after they went deep. Im just a realist. I was upset at Julio at the time for hitting Harper, but after Harpers F bombs and six foot under comments, its hard to feel bad for the guy. Im sure ill hear all about how everyone in baseball drops the F bombs. Wonder why McCann got so upset. Level headed McCann was wanting a piece of Harper. Wonder why. Six foot under comments Ive already addressed. I dont have to blow those comments up. Speaks for themselves.

Ive given Harper all sorts of credit. I just call it like it is.

Pretty sure anyone that covers baseball, in Canada, knows the US drinking age is 21.

I don't like Harper or the Gnats, but to be fair, Harper is a Mormon and thus does not drink, regardless of his age. The reporter who asked the question knew that and was baiting him. I actually think he handled the question quite well. He responded with some humor and called it what it was... A question asked without really wanting to know the answer, just trying to make him uncomfortable.

Washington Nationals manager Davey Johnson had planned on resting outfielder Bryce Harper this weekend. According to Nationals’ beat reporter Mark Zuckerman, Harper wasn’t too keen on the idea of riding the bench this weekend.

Harper jokingly told Johnson “play me or trade me” in a text message in an attempt to dissuade Johnson from benching the 20-year-old. Harper had missed over a month with knee bursitis before returning to the lineup on Monday.
