Braves recalled LHP Ryan Buchter from Triple-A Gwinnett.

Buchter was optioned to the minors earlier this week, but plans changed after Cory Gearrin's elbow injury. The 27-year-old southpaw had a 2.76 ERA and 103 strikeouts over 62 innings in Triple-A last year, but he also walked 51 batters. He has never pitched in a major league game.

It was him or Severino, and I thought he showed more in spring training. I like our pen at the start of the season: Kimbrel, Walden, Carpenter, Avilan, Thomas, Buchter, Varvaro, Schlosser. When Santana is ready, one of them will get sent down. Then more decisions will have to be made as Minor, Floyd and Venters return.
