Carpenter to DL; Beato up

Among the options on the 40 man roster:

Thomas and Schlosser pitched multiple innings a couple days ago and would need at least one more day's rest.

Wood is being stretched out.

Jaime and Buchter generate big strikeout numbers, but walk too many.

Northcraft has been pitching well as a starter in AA, but had a start just two days ago.

Leaves Beato by default, although he has not pitched especially well.

Several of our AAA pitchers have been pitching much better than Beato but they are not on the 40-man. That group includes Martin, Maya and Severino.

I'm ok with Beato playing the sacrificial lamb role for a couple days. But I'd rather have Thomas come up at that point. That would give us a second lefty in the pen, something that would be nice to have against the Phillies.
 
We really can't use Hale for a while either, probably should option or DL him but it doesn't sound like there's anyone else to call up.
 
I would have brought up Buchter not Beato. I like having the second lefty generally, and especially against the Phillies. And Buchter's control has been better lately. He has nine strikeouts and 3 walks in his last 6 appearances covering 9 innings.
 
Why celebrate one of the players being hurt? I don't care how someone has struggled, celebrating a player being hurt is in very poor taste.
