The thing is if the Braves offered him a dollar. Then he still can’t be a free agent. It just means the Braves lose that pick. This looks like Boras antics to serve notice to teams trying to low ball his clients that he will drag them through red tape as a consequence.

I think there's a rule that they have to offer him a certain percentage of the slot value.
 
At this point, I could care less about bad press. It's annoying, but we're in a great spot. Get the bad vibes the hell out of here.
 
It strikes me that he was never part of the union, having still been an amateur.
 
Pretty sure I read somewhere that if a previously undisclosed injury is revealed in a post-draft physical, the team doesn't even have to offer 40%.

Additionally, if the Braves hadn't played by the rules, I don't think MLB would have already awarded them the #9 pick.
 
Word around the block is the Braves made a false medical claim publicly, causing MSU to drop his athletic scholarship to 50% out of worry about him medically, and the Stewarts are furious at the Braves for that. But MLB can't punish the Braves unless there is false medical documentation, so odds are pretty good nothing comes from this.

AA has a poor reputation around high school coaches for a few of his past picks/no signings.

Can't imagine anyone with ties to the Braves - management, players, or just us fans - give much of a *hit about AA's rep with High School coaches. Sour grapes from our side or not, we offered him life-changing money despite his injury and he felt insulted enough not only to pass, but then go looking for someone to help him cry publicly about it. *uck him. Borass must be watching how he's already slipping down next June's draft boards.
