Big Ten Championship game. Don't remember who the referees were for this one.

My biggest gripe with college basketball is the officiating. It's so random and every game and sometimes every halve is called completely different. There is just zero consistency. The referees have been announced for the final four games. Not sure which ref is doing what game, but the average number of fouls called per game where each ref has been assigned is something like the mid to upper 30s. This bodes well for everyone except one team.

dude, this is basketball in general. i agree, the foul calls are ALWAYS inconsistent and seem very random. two exactly similar plays, one is a foul, one isn't. why? idk. that's basketball. but it's not a conspiracy.

Not sure where Bama goes from here. It appears Texas and Shaka Smart are working on a deal, so that's out. My top candidate now would be Archie Miller.

With all due respect, I don't see why Archie Miller would go to Bama. Bama isn't a basketball school and it's not a basketball conference. I think Bama has to go to more of a project than that. Maybe like a Mike Rhoades.

Yeah no offense to Alabama or anyone else in the SEC. I don't see them landing coaches with a solid pedigree. Just not a lot of chances to be successful down there.

Have to respectively disagree. Pastner hasn't really done anything remarkable at Memphis and Pitino hasn't had enough time to build a resume worthy of a bigger (in contract terms, I mean) job.

What kind of coach do you expect for Bama?

I want a coach at Alabama who has a solid resume that is proven to lead the program back to making the NCAA Tournament. I'm not looking for a Coach K, or Roy Williams, or Tom Izzo (though some of out idiot fringe fans think Bama should go after Izzo just because he and Coach Saban worked together at Michigan State). Pastner has done okay, but nothing really that makes you jump up and say that he's a great coach. Pitino hasn't been a head coach long enough to build that resume and is coming off a rough year at Minnesota.

The SEC coaching ranks is getting stronger. In addition to Calipari and Donovan, Arkansas added Mike Anderson a couple years ago and is turning around their program. Last year, Auburn hired Bruce Pearl (even though I think he's a snake and would NEVER want him anywhere near Tuscaloosa). And in the last couple of weeks, Mississippi State got Ben Howland while Tennessee hired Rick Barnes. Alabama has to get this right, or they are going to get left behind in the SEC ranks.
