Chipper Jones picked the Dodgers to win in 4.

Im not saying he has to lie or anything I said its his right and the Braves are probably gonna feel insulted when a life long brave picks against them

Well they should have took it out on the Dodgers and proved Chipper wrong. But instead they made him look like a genius.

This team proved a lot this year. I defended the image as misunderstood. But I think not. They were what the haters said they were. Feel like I rooted for the ****ing Yankees.

this, here, is the worst part of the way it ended

Pretty ****ing petty if you ask me. Chipper threw to the mascot of all things.

Here is one thing I know. Chipper was right. Maybe he should be manager.

I'm going to guess there's more to it than the Dodgers pick if no one would catch the first pitch.

Wow. Way to burn a bridge with your future first ballot HOFer.

This Braves team is starting to look like a whiny, unlikeable group. They better chickity check themselves before they wreck themselves.

It was the final overreaction by one of the douchiest Braves teams I've watched.

Pretty much.

IA with Matt. I'm sad they didn't win for my sake and the fans' sake, but cannot say I feel sorry for any of them.

Are NONE of these people his friends? How insane.

Chipper sticks his foot in his mouth twice in one day and people still think his sh't don't stink.

He shouldn't have said on the radio he thought his old team would get beat in 4 games. It's not a big deal but geez, thanks ol' buddy. Then he's a douche for making something out of nothing. The mascot, the symbol of the team, caught the pitch from another team icon. What's the problem?

The team does seem a little thin-skinned and childish, just like Chipper.

I defended them over and over. At this point, the evidence seems overwhelming. I haven't made any assumptions.
LOL What evidence of what? Chipper got his feelings hurt of something petty and somebody wrote an article about it?

The only thing that matters is we ran out of pitching and our season is over.

I wonder if Chipper made such prognostications to himself while he was playing. Now I think I'd hate to hear his pre-game speeches: "Ok, guys! They're gonna beat us in 4. But let's go out there and earn a final paycheck!"

I didn't hear the radio interview done with Chipper - did he criticize the team in anyway, or simply state that he believed the Dodgers were the better team and would win the series?

Simply stated his opinion that he thought the Dodgers would win. Something many retired players do.

I still don't see why it's cool for Chipper to say this. I get he has his opinion, I get he was asked what he thought. Freaking lie. You just retired a year ago. You were here last post-season. Why publicly state you see "your boys" getting wiped up in the playoffs? The team should have reacted with more class, but it's still lame to me that Chipper said that. He should have been behind the guys. Clearly he wasn't. That's disappointing.

I think that publicly picking the Dodgers to win was a bad call from a guy who played his entire career in Atlanta and just retired with honors. More than anyone else except Hank Aaron, he should be considered, and be prepared to behave as, an ambassador for the franchise. Loyalty is a two-way street. It wouldn't have killed him to be a homer.

Yeah, even if you believe deep down that they were going to lose, did you have to say it? Chipper isn't too bright, honestly.
Additionally, if even a guy like Mac, who is classy as can be and played many years with Chipper, wouldn't even volunteer to go out there, that says something. I'm not saying I agree with the pettiness, but Mac not going out there is a little significant. I mean, should the players be happy with Chipper publicly stating they would lose in 4? That probably sucked to hear for a lot of them - a franchise icon, one year removed from his playing career, doesn't believe they can win, and lets everybody know it.
