Clinch day(?) Sat vs Phiiiies, game 3

I’m telling y’all, Kimbrel is probably back in Atlanta next year. Like it or not.

Our pen next year projects ok.

RH: Viz, Sobotka, Winkler, O'Day.
LH: Venters, Minter, Biddle.

That's pretty solid, throw in Carle too. We dont really have a legit closer and Kimbrel would push everyone back a spot.

I'm not necessarily advocating for a return of Kimbrell, but if you take the guys you mention, insert Kimbrell, and build backwards from the 9th inning, that's an impressive looking set of guys.

I'm not for or against Kimbrel, i wont be surprised either way if we signed him. But your point is correct, you add Kimbrel to that, that's a very interesting bullpen to work with.

i doubt we bring back kimbrel but i do miss him and having both him and Venters again and hopefully Simmons at short again would be cool

With how well Camargo has played and with Riley being close I don’t think they mess with 3b this offseason. Flowers extended so catcher is probably not gonna be looked at hard either so RF and closer are our 2 areas of need and we have plenty of money and ammo to solve both with legit pieces. If we could trade for say Marte and sign Kimbrel then our chances of repeating as NL East champs next year are pretty good.

I agree about Camargo and Riley. Acuna should start in RF next year, it's his best position. I disagree about catcher, I see Flowers as more a back-up. So try to add someone at least as good as Suzuki has been on offense. I see short as a possible upgrade on offense and defense, if we go after Simmons via trade. Maybe Realmuto at catcher depending on the ask.

Like 76, we're agreeing alot lately lol i dont think catcher is set. That's a position i hope AA looks into improving this winter.

Really neat that Smoltz is calling the game to see Smoltz-lite dominate a clincher.

Smoltz was heaping a lot of praise on Folty as well.

And Smoltz is a great announcer. A shame the Braves couldn't pick him up to do their games although I guess he prefers the national scene.

I don't think we need to make a big splash at catcher. Tyler's elite pitch framing skills make him a perfectly viable starter for 80 games. We just need someone for the other 80. So maybe try to bring Kurt back or try to acquire a similar player on the cheap. I kind of hope we grab a super-utility type of player like Escobar. That would allow us to use him to split some time with Camargo, protect against injuries, and spell Dansby/Ozzie if they run into a cold streak or something. He'd definitely help the bench out a ton. Then I'd like to see us make a trade for somebody like Eddie Rosario. I'd spend a good bit for him too. Young, controllable, and a helluva player. Then finally address the bullpen with a high leverage guy and a true LOOGY. I think we have plenty of money to get all of that done.

Don’t know about the rest of you, but I’ve been smiling all day since the Braves clinched. Just think about, not 24 hours after the final game of the season last year started, we get the news about John Coppolella, bringing embarrassment to the Braves and the fans. Not only did the team survive that, but thrived. And now, Division Champions. And the future looks good.

The Braves aren’t going to be favored to win in this coming postseason. Frankly, who cares what the oddsmakers will say. This team has already beaten the odds. Can they do it again? Why not? Anything can happen in postseason baseball.

If our bullpen will throw strikes consistently, we can beat anybody. There were so many years where we really should have won and didn't. Why not be the team that comes out of nowhere?
