It was football.

Relax

If you think it was football, fine. Then do away with the targeting penalty all together. It makes zero sense for that hit to be legal and yet there be targeting calls when a defender is putting his facemask in a guy's numbers only to have the guy he's tackling duck a bit causing helmet to helmet.

I’m fine with either.

If you get targeting there, you get targeting vs GT on Dan Jackson and you lose that game.

I don’t think you want that.

Agreed.

And the hit in the GT game was a much clearer case for potential targeting as the GT QB did not put his head down to absorb the hit like Stockton did on Sat.

The GT probably should have been targeting, but it was really close. I thought Jackson lead with his crown and there was clear contact to the head of King. But oh well.

There was no way that Texas play was targeting or dirty. It looked worse than it was because the UGA QB is clearly not used to running the ball. If it's a RB on a similar hit then no one bats an eye.

You can argue semantics on what should be a penalty but the QB wasn't a defenseless player in that situation and the Texas defender didn't use his helmet as a weapon to the head or neck of the ball carrier. Good clean, hard hit.

That uga game was not very competitive imo.

UGA couldn't get out of their own way. All year this was a sloppy team. It's uncharacteristic for Kirby Smart. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact Georgia's assistants are terrible. The good ones have all been poached leaving only guys no one wants.

If Georgia plays cleaner they maul the Irish. Notre Dame was powerless against Georgia's defense. One of their TDs came on a complete breakdown on STs by UGA and the other on a short field after a turnover (the Georgia LT gave the lowest effort block attempt you'll ever see and hung Stockton out to dry). I think ND scored one legit TD on offense.

One thing this game should confirm is that Mike Bobo has to go. The play calling was embarrassingly bad. Bobo has no clue how to combat a blitz.

I wouldn't say UGA's defense dominated them. It was a slow paced game that saw both teams run it a lot. Not really stretching the field much. UGA took maybe 3-4 deep shots, completed a couple of them. A healthy Beck maybe changes the course of the game, but he also played really sloppy this year, so it's entirely possible he throws multiple Ints like he has in other big games this year. Like I said before the year started, UGA just doesn't have the playmakers at the skill positions that they have had most of Kirby's tenure.

Bell and Smith have the worst hands I’ve seen from a starting pair at uga in a long time… those guys need to be used on end around not passes. Anyone see how Smith was holding the ball when Parker Jones became famous?

Uhh- Notre Dame beat themselves for most of the game. They had 10 penalties and over double the penalty yardage. They ran for 154 yards.

That wasnt a game where UGA was clearly the better team and just beat themselves. The legit TD on offense was the same amount that Georgia scored.

UGA just wasnt the same team this year. Their WRs cant catch. Their RBs aren't like the ones they have had in years past. The QB is a step behind what they've had.

Its fine, they will easily rebuild but the talent on offense was not what Georgia typically has.

This playoff has been a huge disappointment so far. These just aren't good games and a lot of these teams look like they have no business being on the field.

Im just not a fan of a 12 team playoff. There typically is not 12 teams that are worthy of a national title. You also shouldnt be in the conversation with 3 losses (even though I think Ole Miss could easily beat any of these teams)

Georgia had the ball down close, poised to score a TD twice and came away with 3 points. Once they fumbled and the other they had the dumb sideline infraction. Without those mistakes I think they probably punch it into the end zone both times.

Georgia out gained ND 300 to 244. The area where Georgia got dominated was turnovers, 2-0. One of those saved a TD for ND the other gave them one.

I don't think Georgia dominated but if Georgia had cleaned up the unforgivable mistakes I think they win easily.
