It's not clapping that's illegal, as I understand it. It's "abrupt" and "jerky" motion that simulates a snap. You don't want QBs moving suddenly as if they're taking the snap. QBs clap all the time to try to keep defenses from timing the snap.

All Stockton did was clap. The argument was his clap was a little big. But if that was a penalty then you could basically flag the offense anytime the defense jumps offsides.
 
What a joke the committee is. ND would be favored against every team except for Ohio st and Indiana on a neutral site. Tulane and JMU have no business at all being in the playoffs

I disagree about ND being favored but including Tulane and James Madison over them is pretty absurd. One is forgivable. Having both is pretty silly.

ND doesn't deserve to be there at all and they woudn't be favored against most of the field. ND lost every game they played of consequence.

At least Texas knocked off A&M and looked the part against Ohio ST.

And their soft ass response to bowing out of any bowl invites is weak as hell.

They lost at Miami by 3, in thier QB’s first ever start. Next week they lost by one with an obvious holding call not called against a&m. They beat everyone after that.

Bama lost to a horrible fla state, and Miami lost to two 4 loss teams. Notre dames only two loses are to two teams in the CFP.

Bama should have been dropped. They had -2 yards rushing against Georgia. If you say you shouldn’t drop a team for playing a conference championship than why

I think them declining the bowl will make changes to the system.

I’d be in favor of letting all conf champs in, but then ND would complain still as they refuse to join one.

I can’t argue if Bama wouldn’t have been selected either as they looked terrible but rushing stats don’t really have a play in the conversation. UGAs defense is literally night and day from early season.

Them sitting out won’t make any difference at all.

Technically BYU was already out of the playoffs at number 11, since they take the 5 top ranked conference winners and only the SEC and B1G had Championship games with teams ranked ahead of them. So BYU has no choice to win or they were out. The fact that they dropped to 12th is sort of irrelevant in the grand scheme of things, because they weren't getting in without a win.

ND is out because they lost the H2H vs Miami and because the ACC no longer had representative with Virginia losing the title game. If VA wins, ND stays. Your beef should not be with any SEC teams. Your beef should be with Virginia for losing to a super mediocre Duke team that they beat by 17 points just 3 weeks ago
 
I do think ND is a top 12 team. They are definitely better than Vandy and BYU, and probably better than Texas as well. It sucks that Tulane and JMU are in the playoffs as neither team is remotely close to even being a top 25 team, much less a playoff caliber team.

I think it should be the 4 highest ranked conference winners get automatic bids, And I think all conferences should be forced to put in stipulations that in order to qualify for a conference championship game, you must have 3 total losses or less. Duke should never have been allowed to play in a conference championship game with 5 losses and a playoff berth on the line for the ACC.

I don’t like the automatic qualifiers. Just let it be the 12 best teams.
It should had been 10 sec/big ten teams, Texas tech and Notre Dame this year,

This isn’t march madness. Tulane and JMU have no chance and are a waste of space. JMU have no power 4 wins.
 
No one wanted to schedule them and pay them for a competitive game.

Thats how the big boys roll. They want an easy W for thier G5 teams. They dodge the good ones most of the time. Its always been that way.
 
Hell I think North Dakota st and JMU would be a toss

JMU lost to a decent Louisville team.
 
Not anymore, NDSU isn't what they used to be, but likely a decent game. NDSU pops a major team about every 2 years. Hell i think they had a winning record vs Big 10 schools over the years.

JMU's matchup isn't good for them. They would fare much better against other teams. Oregon just has too many horses. They'd likely be way more competitive against some of the other schools not named OSU or UGA. Hell I'm suprised they lost.

I think Bama put together a really impressive run in the middle of the season but at the end, folks figured them out. They can't run it.

ND has no one to blame but themselves. Grow up and join a conference. Play ohio st, or Michigan, or someone else in there. Next year their schedule is a joke, but thats what they are gonna do year in and out, they know they have to be perfect.

Bama is a different offense with Jam Miller healthy. But overall, yeah they aren't super impressive on offense. Pretty one dimensional. Defensively, they are very solid.

OU is 2024 Tennessee. Great defense but super mediocre offense that can't throw it against good defenses.

Texas A&M is probably the most talented team from top to bottom, but Reed is so bi-polar and you never know what version you're gonna get.

Texas Tech has a ton of talent, but they haven't faced the toughest schedule. Will be interesting to see how they play vs top tier teams.

UGA is good but I don't feel like they are very explosive on offense. More sort of the grind it out type of offense this year rather than the explosive offenses we saw in year's past. Defense is solid, but not great.

Indiana is obviously a great team. Heisman QB, fantastic defense. Extremely well coached. But they do lack the talent of other top end teams. I question whether they can maintain this level of play for 3 straight games vs elite teams.

OSU is great again, but Sayin is so frigging overrated. But still, loaded with talent everywhere.

Miami is sort of the same as A&M. Oozing with talent on both sides of the ball. When Beck is good he's great. When he's bad, he single handedly loses you the game. No real in between with him.

Oregon and Ole Miss are quite clearly below every other team on this list. They are here solely because of a weak schedule. ND is better than both teams. Texas right now is better than both teams. I feel like Pavia would torch both of these teams and give Vandy better than a 50-50 chance to beat either team.
