College Football Thread

Good effort there from UT. Breaks didn't go our way in the end. In a year or two I think we'll finally be all the way back. Two unforced turnovers cost us the game. True freshman and backup QB.

We lost by 3 points on the road to a Top 15 team. And we lost our starting QB for most of the 2nd half. Without the fumble in the endzone, UGA probably loses. We were anywhere from a 17 to 21 point underdog coming in. How you can come away with from this game saying TN isn't very good is ridiculous.

Sure, but how can you fumble in your end zone and ice the game for Georgia. Regardless of who is playing quarterback there is no excuse for that.
 
Sure, but the kid is a freshman. And still very talented. If we pull out the win at the end of the gamw, everyone would have been talking about him after, instead of Gurley. He had a fantastic day, other than the fumble.

IMO, we should not have kicked the on side kick at the end. I know we didn't do a good job of stopping Gurley, but other than a couple big runs, we held the UGA offense in check for the majority of the 2nd half. Instead, we force a 4th down situation in our own territory and UGA goes for it on 4th down.

Still happy with how we fought, but in order for us to turn the corner, we're gonna have to win these close games.

If we don't beat Florida next week, I'll agree with you that we aren't very good. Cause Florida sucks.

I take your word for it. You know a lot more about Tennessee and the conference as a whole. I only saw a handful of plays of this game. Busy watching my game...

Florida is downright lousy though.
 
Stupid Arkansas. Had a great chance to move up a spot and the hogs collapse.
Tie game now with two and change left.

UT has played more true freshmen than any team in college football. The entire right side of our starting offense and our starting tail back are true freshmen. We're a talented team, but just a very young team. Butch is doing a great job of recruiting, but Dooley was just so horrible as a recruiter that we almost have to start over. A lot of Dooley upper class men have been beaten out by true freshmen.

Also, Dooley left Butch with maybe 3 good OL. He just didn't even bother recruiting SEC OL after his first season. The one guy he got that was elite is at Arkansas now after following Dooley's old OC and OL coach.

But we've got this great class Butch brought in last year and another really good class coming in next year it looks like.

At Oklahoma and at UGA was a hell of a tall order from these young guys, but they showed some fight and more important, some impressive talent.

I guess I never expected Tennessee fans to use moral victories.

I think this way because of nothing but respect for Tennessee's football program. I know schools go through lulls, but this one has gone on far too long. I know I am preaching to the choir when I say that.

I hope for your sake they are getting better and soon. It's good for college football if they are relevant.
