Unless MSU loses more than 1 game, then it's Dak's to lose. Based solely on stats it should probably go to Mariotta. But right now it's Dak's to lose.

There are really only three SEC teams still in the race for the national playoff now.

Bama, MSU and Auburn. At most only two of those will get in.

Most likely teams to get into the playoffs, imo, are:

1) FSU
2) Oregon
3) Notre Dame
4) Michigan St.
5) Auburn (easiest schedule going forward of any West team and that's saying something cause they still have Bama, A&M and UGA)
6) Alabama
7) Miss St.
8) Ohio St.
9) TCU

Regardless what you think of golden child Winston, the point remains. Dak Prescott is virtually a shoe in for Heisman barring some late season breakdown. So stop with the "SEC has no QBs" bull mess.

LOL off anyone that would vote for him over Mariota. 68% comp%, 10.25 ypa, 26 td 2 int. 7 rushing tds with 410 yards

vs.

61%, 9.4 ypa, 16 td, 7 int. 725 rushing yards with 10 td.

Unless people are still under the clueless belief that the SEC PLAYS DEFENSE!

Top 3/4 in ppg. Pretty strong.

without looking, is the trend for ppg going up or down?

You literally just posted a link like 2 days ago that showed 4 SEC teams in the Top 10 on defense. Or do those stats only matter when you want them to? Clueless indeed.

Yes, I mentioned Mariotta is having a better season if you bothered to keep reading (even though Mariotta has played 1 more game than Prescott). But Prescott has similar #'s and is playing on the No. 1 team in the nation that is undefeated, in a conference division that boasts 5 ranked teams. Unless MSU loses and/or he plays badly, then there is zero chance that he doesn't win the Heisman. Prescott's numbers are just as good, if not better than Winston's last yr or Scam's the yr he won it.

How does the SEC have both the best defenses and the best offensive skill players ??

Typically, the best teams in football are good at both (what a shocking revelation that is). Or they are great at one and "ok" at the other (such as in the case of Baylor). And not coincidentally, the top ranked SEC teams (MSU, Auburn, and Bama) are highly ranked in both categories. No one has ever said the SEC is loaded top to bottom with great teams or great defenses or great offenses. Clearly the lower SEC teams have some major flaws. But to act like even the lowest SEC teams are devoid of talent is ludicrous. Tennessee may or may not make a bowl game, but A.J Johnson will likely be 1st or 2nd team All American and should definitely be a finalist for the Butkus award (he's already a semi-finalist). By pretty much all accounts he should be a 1st round pick. But i guess he wouldn't even see playing time for FSU according to you?

And if you don't want to believe that, then just take a look at the NFL draft for the last 10 yrs or so and see how consistently the SEC leads the nation in drafted players. SEC has lead all conferences among drafted players every yr for the last 8 yrs. I guess NFL talent scouts have SEC bias as well???

Prescotts numbers are nowhere close to any of those. What kind of circle jerk kool aid are you drinking?

Here are the vaunted defenses Prescott has faced in the mighty SEC schedule:

98
93
64
21
89
10
51
46

oh, btw, here are

Winston's numbers: 67%, 10.6 ypa, 40 td/10 int 219 yards rushing 4 td
Newton's numbers: 66%, 10.2 ypa, 30 td/7 int 1,473 yards rushing 20 td
Mariotta;s numbers 68%, 10.3 ypa, 26 td/2 int, 410 yards rushing 7 td

And here are Prescotts, who Carpe is trying to claim are just as good:

61%, 9.4 ypa, 16 td/7 int, 725 yards rushing 10 td

Nice comparing Winston and Scams total #'s instead of using their numbers through the same amount of games. Prescott has more total yards and the same amount of total TDs as Winston through the same # of games at this time last yr. And as of two weeks ago, was out pacing Scam in both categories as well. I couldn't care less how many yards per attempt or what his completion percentage is. And guess what? The Heisman voting panelist don't care either. But by all means, keep throwing out every useless random stat you can find. It just makes you look that much more ridiculous. How convenient that you aren't comparing each players total yardage.

Mariotta (who has played one game than Prescott min you) has only about 200 more total yards than Prescott and only 7 more total TDs. But through the Mariotta's 1st eight games, he has LESS total yardage and only 3 more total TDS than Prescott. ZOMG!!! HEZ BEEN SOOOO MUCH BETTERZZ!!!

As I said, yes he is having a better yr, but not substantially. And you're totally missing the point that Prescott is on an undefeated team and the No.1 team in the country. If he stays undefeated and keeps putting up those #s, then there is no way he doesn't win the Heisman.

Per Game:

Winston's numbers: 67%, 10.6 ypa, 2.86 td/0.7 int, 290 passing yards, 16 yards rushing 0.29 td
Newton's numbers: 66%, 10.2 ypa, 2.1 td/0.5 int, 204 pasing yards, 105 yards rushing 1.43 td
Mariotta;s numbers 68%, 10.3 ypa, 2.9 td/0.22 int, 282 passing yards, 46 yards rushing 0.78 td
Prescot numbers: 61%, 9.4 ypa, 2 td/0.88 int, 253 passing yards, 90.63 yards rushing 1.25 td

Lol of who cares about completion % and yards per attempt.

Prescot 3.25 td per game, 0.9 interceptions per game.
Mariotta 3.68 td per game, 0.2 interceptions per game.
Newton 3.53 td per game, 0.5 interceptions per game,
Winston 3.15 td per game, 0.7 interceptions per game,

Mariotta has a 26 td to 2 interception ratio. Prescot has 16 td to 7 interception ratio.

Newest actual college playoff rankings:

1) Miss St.
2) FSU
3) Auburn
4) Oregon
5) Bama
6) TCU

Hard to grump too much about the top 6, but I do think TCU is ranked too high. They do have a tough matchup coming up this week with a very well coached KSU team, so they certainly have a chance to earn their ranking. Not having a conference championship could potentially be a huge boost for them. The top 3 SEC West teams still control their own destiny, so their ranking is truly irrelevant.

Bama, just take care of business.

They have the toughest schedule left of all the SEC West teams which is why I rated them low on my teams likely to make the playoffs. I mean win 2 out of the 3 vs Miss St., Auburn and LSU and you should be happy as a Bama fan. Win all 3 and they should clearly be rated #1 overall. Win 2 out of the three and I think they deserve a shot as the 4th team in the playoffs at least, but not sure the public and media will see it that way.

The top four is fine right now. My gripe is the inconsistency the committee shows each week. Picking and choosing what criteria to use when ranking certain teams. Then completely dismissing that criteria for another team. Brad Edwards of ESPN mind you actually talked about this.
