College Football Thread

So mark richt is supposedly getting the AD job? Doesn't add up.

Collegefootballnews.com is a great site any college football fan should go to at least once a day. They just made a good case for Richt to USC. Valid points

or Miami.

I am not sure he leaves Georgia though. I think they want to keep him on in some capacity.

I heard that rumor too about Richt ascending to AD. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but I know there's a good bit of people who lack confidence in McGarity to make a good move here.

Just curious, based on what? He was the right hand man to one of the best AD's of all time in Jeremy Foley for many years..Im sure some of that rubbed off on him

Well for one thing he was a complete abortion at the news conference today. Go watch it. It was an embarrassment. And I can't say I trust him much at this point.

Richt interviewing at Miami today.

Likely that Smart is the guy at Georgia.

Pruitt and Muschamp both candidates for the South Carolina job. If one of them gets it, the other is probably going to be DC for Georgia.

Former Georgia OC and current Colorado State coach Mike Bobo reportedly has interviewed for the Missouri job.

Crazy happenings.

Surprised that Richt isnt holding out for Texas if Strong gets the Axe.

If Charlie Strong were to get fired that would shake things up

lol was just thinking how awesome it would be if Les Miles said screw off to LSU and took Georgia over. Oh my that would be amazing.

Initial reaction is I like the hire of Kirby. I would have loved for us to pick up the phone and call Les anyway after the crap LSU pulled. Also wanted us to reach out to David Shaw at Stanford.

But I think most of the big money people have had their eyes set on Kirby and if they had turned things over to that idiot McGarity, he probably would have made a mistake, like Dan Mullen.

Kirby's first order of business needs to be getting his ass on a plane to Washington to go see Eason.

Congratulations to Georgia. I feel like you're getting a good one. Kirby is ready. He's had the seasoning under Nick Saban and this is his time. Not to mention going to his alma mater. I think he's going to do well.

Chatter over here in Alabama is that strength and conditioning coach Scott "YEAH YEAH YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" Cochrane is going with him and rumors also about WR coach Billy Napier heading that way too.

Crimson, I think there's a pretty good chance you guys will be taking Pruitt from us (if he doesn't get tapped at Carolina). How appropriate this feels like a trade with the winter meetings coming up lol.

Hahaha! You're correct. I'm reading the same things and yeah, it does seem like a trade.:happy0157:

Why do UGA people hate Dan Mullen? Every single one does.... He does more with less than most SEC coaches. I don't get it. Must be a "why I hate Dan Mullen" thread on a dawgs message board somewhere. He took MIss St to No 1 in the SEC west. That's probably better than anything CMR did in his whole tenure with 3x the resources and talent.

I don't mind the Smart hire. Little concerned UGA painted themselves into this one without a true search. If u miss this hire, it look like UF is gonna take the reins in the East again. I don't think that job needs a coordinator, but a guy with true HC chops. Probably could have gone with a more proven guy honestly... A bigger resume. Kinda pigeon holed themselves as Kirby or bust.

I may be being harsh on Mullen. I understand he doesn't have all the resources, but still, he has an abysmal record against ranked teams and a losing record against his division. I also wonder how much of their success the last couple years is tied to Prescott being a great QB. It wouldn't have been the end of the world, but I'm not completely sold on the guy.

I'm not very thrilled Georgia made this hire so quickly and apparently only ever considered Smart. But this whole thing about no experience. Richt had no head coaching experience when we hired him and he brought our program back to relevance. Smart constantly receives praise from Saban, he's widely hailed as a great recruiter, and he's got very strong ties to the program (played and coached there, grew up in Georgia rooting for the team). I think it's a sound hire. If the guy's going to have no experience, at least he trained under the best. If he bombs, then there should be an opportunity to get it fixed. The trendy thing out there to do is compare this situation to Tennessee and Fulmer. I don't think you can say he's as bad a hire as Lane Kiffin, but especially Derek Dooley.
