College Football Thread

Watching GS dismantle the hell out of BG on ESPN prime time makes the whole season pretty damn great. Wow. I guess they just don't play any defense in the Mac? We whipped the **** out of both teams we played from the Mac.

It is game week! This has been a long three weeks and change! It's finally here!

CC the Alabama board on 247 seems to think this one is wrapped up already. Curious what your thoughts are. I know everyone can't be this insane in your fan base. There were a few people on there who are giving the rightful respect towards us, but the vast majority are arrogant fans who think this is a blowout.

Bama isn't even that good this year so anyone predicting them to just roll everyone is dumb. Unless, they've greatly improved over the past couple weeks.

I wouldn't say that Bama "isn't that good". May not be Coach Saban's best team at Alabama, but this group may be the most focused. A Bama beat writer said this is the most focused Alabama has been in a bowl since the BCS Championship Game against LSU. Hopefully that focus pays off.

As for the thoughts of it being a "blowout", that has not entered my mind at all. Michigan State is a great team and this is going to be a heavyweight fight. This game will be competitive. Cook is the best quarterback Alabama has faced thus far. Got to get pressure on him.

I wouldn't take the thoughts of people on a message board as a gauge as to what the Alabama fan base thinks about this game. The majority of Alabama fans respect MSU. A good reason why is that they see a lot of Alabama in Michigan State. A tough, physical team that will make you earn a win against them.

Didn't mean it as a knock, but this Bama team isn't as talented as years past. The defense is good (as always), but the offense isn't at the level of years past. QB play isn't great and the playmakers aren't at the level of years past.

Bama is rock solid. But they struggle with teams that have dual threat QBs. They better hope OU knocks off Clemson if they want to win the championship cause Clemson is exactly the team they don't want to play. OU is the weakest of the playoff teams, imo. Overrated defense and their offense (while good) hasn't been tested much this year.

Good another person completely discounting MSU.

Not discounting MSU. I was responding to the talk about Bama. I'll be rooting for a MSU and Clemson finale.

I would say that this Bama team is above average defensively (for a typical Bama team) and mediocre offensively (for a Bama team). I think this is the best pass rush I've ever seen from a Saban coached Bama team.

We all knew the bowl system was broken for awhile, but this unprecedented. Nevada-Colorado State in the Arizona bowl wasn't even televised. First bowl game not televised since 1994. Oh yeah they are both in the Mountain West conference.

The bowl system isn't broken, it's just an assortment if meaningless exhibition games except the playoffs.

Not true. The playoffs are huge for obvious reasons. The Rose Bowl is still the most recognized college game ever. There are other big bowl games as well aside from the playoff ones. Just the entire system is watered down even more now.

It's still dumb to me that the playoff games are on New Year's Eve, and not New Year's Day.

I don't care one way or the other. Working retail prohibits me from enjoying holidays save for Christmas Day..I digress.

It's not like you or I go out and party on NYE anymore. I am just glad I can see it live.
