Contention confidence this time around

I don’t have time to get into specific numbers in this post, but is anyone else way more confident that the Braves are going to actually win a playoff series and have a shot at a World Series this time around?

We had a decent contention period between 2009 and 2013 but I never felt confident in the team we fielded. I always felt there were obvious holes that would hold us back in the playoffs, and obviously they’d did.

I see so much promise in these young guys and love the amount of depth we have in the minors to plug holes and/or trade. We also have some cash to work with.

I think the next few waves of talent has what it takes to be great for Atlanta. Anyone else feel the same way? #OptimismOverload
 
Playoffs are a crapshoot. It sucks we didn't win a series in the previous window but sometimes dumb things happen (infield fly rule and fredi not using kimbrel). Hopefully we don't have these scenarios anytime soon.
 
May will tell us a lot more about this team....we played really well in April, we will have to see what we can do this month as our schedule is as difficult if not more than April

5/31- 6/3 vs WAS

A lot of playoff caliber teams, playing a lot in the division....if we can make it through this month with the division lead, we are in a really good spot.

Still a lot of winnable games. 7 against the fish. 2 in Tampa. 5 more against these mutts and 3 with the faillies.
 
Opposition doesn't really seem to matter all that much in baseball. It obviously does, but in short series, anything can happen. Our opponents' records in April were better than in May if you remove the Reds...but we only split that series anyway.

We have the best run differential in the NL right now. Yes, our offense is playing above its head right now a bit, but that is still a very good sign.
