I believe that several mocks had us taking him. He was reputed to be a difficult sign and that he may sign with Atlanta. I don't know if that was true or not, but I believe that was the logic of the people at the various mocks that had him falling to us. There was this thing about the Braves focusing heavily on Georgia (and they did for much of the Roy Clark era) and I think that contributed to the notion that Heyward would end up a Brave as well.

I will research it when I get home but I believe the Braves hid their interest so well that other teams passed on him (sounds like the draft day movie plot). They figured if thr braves who were all over Georgia taleny at the time didn't want him then there was a good reason. I remember a story of a braves scout hiding in the bushes in the outfield to scout him. Heyward also made himself hard to scout because he was too patirnt at the plate.

Forbes and Harrison still around too, if we want to go with toolsy high school position players.

Guessing a pitcher, not really sure who though.

Wouldnt be against an outfielder either.
