Cruz for Supreme court...

I'm thinking that it won't come to that though, because they want Cruz out of the senate and it doesn't fit their best interests potentially in the long run. I agree that Cruz's ideology would normally be a problem.

Maybe, but consider the bloodbath most (if not all) Democrats would take from their constituents if they voted to affirm the man who said the date Roe v. Wade was passed was a "dark anniversary" and pro-life legislation was a "war on women".

Now, Cruz as AG ... that's something I could see happening.

Who held the Senate and the Presidency in those cases? Opposing parties? And again, don't discount the desire that senators on both sides of the aisle would have to get rid of Cruz.

Bork was Reagan's appointee (Democratic majority - 2 Democrats supported [including Fritz Hollings from SC], and 6 Republicans against)
Alito was GWB's (Republican majority - 4 blue dog's supported him and all Republicans)
Sotomayor was Obama's (Democratic majority, all Democrats supported her, as did 9 Republicans [including Lindsey Graham])

Cruz on the high court? Sounds like Back to the Future 4 when Marty McFly and Doc Brown take the DeLorean back to the Gilded Age and they can't get back.

Forgot to mention that McConnell hates Cruz so much that he may be willing to use the senate nuclear option on him.
