Why wouldn’t we want more cultural enrichment?

I don’t know that this is a stone I’d choose to throw in a glass house that contains places like rural Kentucky.

I’m certain there are stories of bestiality in Appalachia, just as there are in more urban areas. I don’t think anyone will find Appalachian instances of a gang rape of an animal containing dozens of people. That would require cultural acceptance that doesn’t exist in this country. Well maybe it does now, among certain immigrant populations.

They do love their animals in Appalachia.
An example of a popular but unfounded trope. But hey I like to play the game too!!

It is not hard to find lurid stories of rural white folks indulging. Whether it be with animals or little girls.

Sensational crimes (sometimes involving dozens of people) are not hard to find on the internet.

Well yeah, in rich nations we have much more internet porn now for the degenerate teens.

Oh yeah, all the guys were slipping mickeys into the girls drinks in the clubs when I was growing up in Appalachia. Because we totally had enough population density to support nightclubs.

are there sensational examples of bestiality involving evangelical groups

Yes, there are a few sensational, high-profile examples where individuals affiliated with evangelical or Baptist churches (broadly Protestant/evangelical circles) have been involved in bestiality-related cases, though these are rare, isolated incidents rather than patterns tied to groups as a whole.

The most widely reported recent case involves David Lloyd Walther, a longtime pastor at Faith Baptist Church in Round Rock, Texas (an independent Baptist congregation, often aligning with evangelical/fundamentalist theology). In 2022–2023:

  • He was arrested and later pleaded guilty to federal child pornography charges.
  • Authorities found over 150,000 files, including folders labeled "BDSM" (with images of restrained prepubescent children) and "Zoo" (containing a bestiality video depicting a dog and a female toddler, described as likely under three years old).
  • Some downloads occurred at the church itself.
  • He admitted to an addiction in statements to investigators.

This case drew significant media attention (e.g., Law & Crime, New York Post) due to the extreme nature of the content, the pastoral role, and the overlap of child exploitation with bestiality themes.

when I was growing up in Appalachia
All of the people I have gotten to know from Appalachia are wonderful people. My department chair is from eastern Kentucky. One of the best people I know.

I have a number of acquaintances from Morrocco. I would say the same thang about them.

Roofies are just a bit harder to pull off at the church potluck where we were more likely to do our courting.

He would likely smile at the term “mountain justice.” It’s a concept that prevents a lot of ills in the hills. Sort of an enforcer of accepted cultural norms.

I'll ask him. He likes to break out expressions that no one else has ever heard. He grew up on a tobacco farm that his father still operates. He teaches finance. We have a running joke about how finance is pronounced.
