big bust of the year by Bleacher report. I don't have a question with that pick.

Atlanta Braves: SS Dansby Swanson

From Bleacher Report

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2758309-each-mlb-teams-potential-huge-bust-for-2018

A leading candidate for NL Rookie of the Year honors entering last season, Swanson instead hit an underwhelming .232/.312/.324 with just 31 extra-base hits in 551 plate appearances.

Most feel these are just growing pains for a player who went from the No. 1 overall pick in 2015 to a starting shortstop in the majors by the second half of the 2016 season.

He'll need to show some marked improvement in 2018, though, or the doubters will start to get a bit louder.

There is bad and then there is Swansons 2017 season. All around horrible. The team needs him to be a produce major leaguer. I'll be honest when I thought he was destined to be an all around good player that hovered between 3 and 4 WAR. Now I hope he can just be league average. Shouldn't get that down on a player based on a rookie season but damn it was brutal.

Bleacher Report might be made up of people who have less relevant information than regular posters here.

Place weight on what you read there at your own risk.

There's no doubt he was rushed and the Braves put too much on his plate - let's see what he does after he has time to adjust. Guys that "suck" don't typically go 1.1 without lots of people screaming that was a terrible pick - which we haven't heard yet. He may never deserve his draft number, but if he turns into a league-average or above everyday SS he turned out "OK" at worst.

he'll be fine

I agree with this. Braves did a terrible job hyping him as much as they did as fast as they did. Can't imagine the amount of pressure he felt last year and when he came out of hte gate slumping it all tailspinned on him.

He may never be great but I would expect a consistent 2.5-4 WAR producer for the next 5 years.

Living in Marietta I’ve heard stories about Landon Hughes and Dansby Swanson in recent years. They’ve been polar opposite in their stories and I think it’ll be the same in their careers.

I wasn’t surprised to hear Hughes failed a drug test and was released as it fit the stories of his attitude. I also will not be surprised when Dansby shows he’s made the necessary adjustments to rebound this season.

Isn't 4 WAR basically all star level? That would be pretty great. I'm just hoping for consistent 2 WAR production.
