Dansby Swanson

MRI revealed a partially torn ligament in his wrist. He’ll receive daily treatments for the rest of the week and be re-evaluated next week.

That’s certainly not great news. Hopefully Dansby responds well to the treatments. The good thing is Culberson is there to play and he played well last postseason for the Dodgers.

i'd probably start Culberson over Swanson more in playoffs at short anyway. But you still want to have Swanson healthy and able to help on defense too.

The nagging thing here is I think we still don't know who Dansby Swanson is. Jim Powell was saying on the radio before he tweaked his swing that it looked like his wrist was bothering him again and he'd have to have a cleanup surgery in his wrist in the offseason. This is backed up by...his hard contact rates, even though he had two flurries after his initial great start where he looked pretty good never getting to where they were during that initial great start again. Ivan the Great over at talkingchop thinks Dansby never fully recovered.

So we pretty much are going to have to go through a THIRD full season and hope it's his moment of truth now as it is looking like the wrist brought him down this time. It was likely to happen regardless but it has to now.

No offense to Swanson or Culberson, but I am hoping we make a big trade to bring back Simmons this off-season. Even if that means Swanson goes to LAA in the deal.

I can't imagine Swanson plays much in the NLDS. I would go ahead and assume Culberson will be playing SS in October.

Culberson was runner-up for MVP for Dodgers in last year's NLCS, but one of their other players had a monster series even better. But Culberson was still very good on defense and offense that series. Hopefully we see a repeat, possibly this time against his old team.

Well, shiste. That's a blow to our post-season bench. Who takes his place on the bench now? Oh ke-riste, that probably mean Flaherty makes the postseason roster. Just kill me now.

If Swanson can't go, I think it would be a back-up 3b like Ruiz or Flaherty, with Camargo, Ozzie, and Culberson all being able to play SS as needed.

Might be a good thing.
