Danville Braves Roster

Just took a quick look and -- gross.

Should be fun to follow the recent draft picks, but the guys up from DSL really reflect how much the sanctions have hurt the Braves’ lower-level depth.

Interesting to see three 1Bs and four Cs but nobody listed at 3B (with two at SS, including Philip, and Birdsong at 2B).

Miguel Jerez had a good season in the GCL last year. I'm guessing he and Tanner Gordon will be in the rotation.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see Alec Barger starting, too; he did well in that role at Polk St, and doesn’t seem a straight relief prospect like Alex Segal. Also wondering what their plans are with Troy Bacon.

Bacon hasn't pitched since June 1. Could be a rehab assignment.

Volquez is another possible starter. He did fairly well as a starter in the GCL last year.

Would make sense—though he’d been pretty bad with the Fire Frogs, so I thought it could be a “work on things” reassignment, too.

Any idea why Ty Harpenau is listed as “restricted”?

Morales played some 3B with the Fire Frogs before bouncing down here. Hernandez may have been drafted as a 3B as well. I think there will be a couple more OFs joining the squad at some point unless they send Blair and/or Parker straight to Rome. So little depth below Mississippi that there's no shortage of opportunity for the newcomers.

Parker seems more likely than Blair to head straight to Rome, but who knows—as you say, there’s no shortage of roster spots below AA. For whatever it’s worth, Matt Powers of TC tweeted a list of players to watch at Danville, and included Parker, but I’m still not seeing him on the roster.

Wonder if Milligan may head straight to Rome, as well.

Looks like Filyer Sanchez is getting the opening-night start.

Sneaky of them to add Milligan to the roster just before the game starts and have him bat leadoff.

Gives us a two Cody defensive formation in the infield.
