Love him or hate him, it will be weird to not see hit posts on X when looking up Braves news. He’s been a staple.

He went out of his way to suck up to team without ever having any good scoop.

Not being an AJC subscriber never read his features, but found what I did read of his writing to be annoying in style.

It's Bowman that has the annoying style. DoB is a good writer, just seemed like he never broke anything. He saw his role as long form journalism.

41 years is a good run in any career. He had strong opinions and wasn't afraid to state them. His writing never annoyed me and I always read him when I had the chance. He dropped in enough pop culture, music and other sports references to give his takes some depth. Braves fans were lucky to have him for as long as we did.

I agree with this. And I also appreciate that he didn’t feel the need to break any news. He could have done that any time he wanted to, but chose to operate with total professional integrity as opposed to today’s sports “journalism” culture.

He seemed generally clueless about anything the team would do often telling twitter that they’d never do anything like it leading up to it actually happening.

I thought he was pretty bad at his job.
