Dickerson DFA’d

When a team DFAs a player they have 10 days to place him on waivers, trade him, or put him back on the roster.

I don’t think they have placed him on waivers yet, so they can trade him to whomever they want. Or they could just put him back on the roster in place of Odorizzi.

The $6M Dickerson is owed probably lines up with what the Braves can afford. He makes some sense if he can be had for a very little prospect capital.

ETA: I didn’t realize he bats LHed. Maybe he isn’t quite the fit I thought he was.

That is what I was saying. We couldn't wait for him to be put on waivers in hopes of getting him. So we would need to work a trade out to acquire him.. I like the bat, not sure about the glove. being lefty is a small problem, but with Suntrust left field porch, he could thrive at home.

The idea of acquiring a 4th OFer should be to platoon him with Markakis when Acuna comes up.

It makes little sense to have Dickerson, Inciarte, Markakis and Tucker all in the organization...unless Markakis is heading somewhere.

While I agree about Neck, I could care less about Tucker. Ideally, you would want a righty, but sometimes you have to take talent when available, even if it doesn't fit right off. I don't see anyway to dump Neck though.

With Hosmer signing with SD.. could we make a play for Myers? Would give us a future outfield of:

LF: Myers
CF: Inciarte (Pache)
RF: Acuna

If someway we could/would/should make a play for Donaldson next off-season a lineup that looks like this, is all of a sudden pretty potent

1. Albies
2. Acuna
3. Freeman
4. Donaldson
5. Myers
6. Flowers
7. Inciarte
8. Swanson
9. Pitcher

What would it cost to potentially get Myers?

They're not trading Myers - they signed Hosmer to play WITH him.

probably still a good bit of prospect cost..I don't remember what he recently signed for though.

You think they signed Hosmer to an 8 year deal to be a platoon player? Really?

Myers is moving back to the OF - in San Diego, not Atlanta.

Has been talked about since the day they were first rumored to be in on Hosmer.

"Padres star Wil Myers has approved a potential move to the outfield in case San Diego signs free-agent star Eric Hosmer, the latest sign the Padres consider themselves a serious player for Hosmer.
Myers was recently called by Padres, team sources say, and he didn't hesitate; the highest paid player in team history will not stand in the way for more Padres progress."

Yelich was a talented LHer worth acquiring. Dickerson doesn’t quite tip the scale enough to justify.

I agree that he would be an upgrade in overall talent though, and if he’s available for free it won’t hurt to add him.

If we could get him for a Wisler or Blaie package I’d be happy to give him a shot. He has a good carrying tool in his power and could maybe continue as a 2.5ish win player.

I'd like to pick him up in a trade depending on the cost. I am guessing they have a deal lined up with someone.

So what’s a good price? I’m thinking of the wisler, Blair, Peterson, demerit group.

We got tucker for nothing so we could drop him.

This guy sounds like Matt Adams with respectable of d instead of terrible.

If we have 6 million then get him and let neck be your primary ph. Let neck play vs lh.

I know he is left handed but we will be more rh as early as this year with acuna.

Acuna can play cf too so you don’t have to have a backup cf on the roster

They have some interesting other corner outfielders. I don't think we do anything with them this season, but next off-season they might match up well with us.

This is a point not to be overlooked. When we do make those long-awaited moves to fill third and left one of them should be a lefty hitter or switch hitter who hits well from the left side.

And Dickerson would fit in 2019 - assuming this is actually a concern of AA's - if Riley is at 3B (or in the unlikely event Donaldson becomes a legitimate option).

Ender, Albies, Freeman, Riley, Dickerson, Acuna, Flowers, Swanson/Camargo

I think we will be aiming higher in terms of expected production in left. Keep in mind that Dickerson had a career year (actually a career first half) last year. You don't project future production off a great half-season. His baseline is not that impressive.
