DOB: Braves offseason about to get a lot busier. - Gamel released.

So when is this off season going to get busy?

For the Braves? I think the whole off-season is going to be very quiet. I wouldn't be surprised if nothing major happened. No Uggla trade. No acquisition of another second baseman. No trade for a starting pitcher. No major extensions for current players. Boring I know, but we have a good young team that really doesn't need anything.

And one that will lose in the NLDS again. (Yes, I know, we can't just get everything we really need.) At the very least, we could stand to bolster the bullpen and bench.

We have SO MANY arms to use in the pen, but like nscapi said, we could use a lefty. Signing a guy like Mujica for 5+ mil for 3 years would be dumb. What else would you do to this team? We could easily make it past the NLDS is the pitching steps up the way it easily could.

That's just something we'll have to hope for. That Minor/Teheran/Medlen/Beachy/Wood, whoever pitch well come crunch time.

Also have to hope BJ bounces back. Idk if Uggla is fixable, but we aren't winning much with two black holes in the lineup besides pitcher and a catcher having to play left field.

Agreed, except i hope we extend one of our younger players but takes two to tango.

Well, we arent going to do much outside of maybe a bullpen/bench piece.

And maybe dumping Uggla.

Outside of that and trying to extend some younger players, not sure what we could do.

Find a CF.

The Mets signed Chris Young for $7.25M. Is he a better bet than BJ to rebound? Enough of a better bet to splah out 7.25M?

Would you pursue Ellsbury, Choo or Granderson?

Is there someone you think we should trade for? The Indians are looking to peddle Stubbs. Would you go for him? Would you have made an offer for Bourjos?

In a heartbeat I'd take Ellsbury. It's a moot point because FW handcuffed this team with Uggla and BJ's contracts.

Given what Uggla did in Florida, I would have given them Infante and Dunn for that all day every day. People tend to forget how sorely we needed right-handed power at the time. Too bad he forgot how to hit.

The trade isn't the issue, it was immediate contract extension.

He may have declined some. No one can say they saw him becoming this awful. If he was actually somewhat producing, far less people would complain about that contract.
