DOGE

You believe they were diverted for a long time and it costs us extra ?
lol, I don’t mean for the time they spent helping this person. Yes, they’ve been diverted from normal operations (or in the case of the NG, their real lives) to a costly venture where we’re paying all these federal agents to walk the streets of DC all day and night and use/maintain military vehicles.

I'm mad that DOGE was a generational opportunity to meaningfully bring us spending cuts and it was a total failure, yes

This is loop 100 of Trump promises something, under delivers massively, claims victory, then attacks anyone who says it's not true. There's no amount of policy that can make me support a person like that.

I think people will be amazed at how fast Vivek and Elon find trillions in savings m.
There is always pushback from the leviathan. It basically stopped Trump from doing anything long lasting in his first term. I think the system is more understood this time and Trump has far more brain power behind him this time.

The conversations I can’t wait to have after all this waste is flushed out is how can we offer free medical care to all Americans or how we can get more creative with more retirement income assistance.

It’s the fact elites have stolen form our coffers for a generation that these programs can’t be solvent. Well that and the 30m+ illegals draining the system.
Always a fun reminder lol

He can't wait to have these conversations!

Of course. Government owned corporations is their end game
Isn’t it controlling the means of production. This is a tad different although its not preferred.

When the US government stepped in to bail out AIG they ended up making a nice gain on the investment.

I’m frankly being generous here. Because the most charitable interpretation of this event I can even come up with is this was meant to motivate and inspire the top military leadership. Any of the other reasons seem much darker, grosser or more illegal.

Congress is debating whether to let Covid-era ObamaCare premium subsidies expire as scheduled at the end of 2025. These subsidies—costing taxpayers more than $400 billion over the next decade—have enticed higher-income Americans into unaffordable plans and distorted insurance markets. They belong in the dustbin of history.

Letting the subsidies go away merely restores the original ObamaCare premium-support structure. That preserves access to subsidies for low-income populations, who already comprise 93% of the 24 million who get health insurance through the ObamaCare exchanges. The expiration will affect roughly 1.6 million current enrollees. These are the people with incomes above 400% of the federal poverty level who have been receiving subsidies that cap their premium contributions at 8.5% of income. A family of four in Arizona making $600,000, a married couple in West Virginia making $580,000, and a single individual in Vermont making $180,000 all qualify for subsidies.

Simply put, since 2021, Congress has been bribing higher-income Americans to purchase expensive ObamaCare plans by hiding the plans’ true price tags using taxpayer dollars. Premiums have increased by nearly 80% since 2014 and more than doubled since 2011. They are projected to rise another 15% to 20% next year. Despite record taxpayer spending on premium subsidies—exceeding $130 billion annually—enrollees still pay average deductibles of $5,000 and out-of-pocket maximums of $21,000 while 1 in 5 of their medical claims are denied. Without Covid-era premium subsidies, these plans would hold little appeal to consumers.

This seriously what we’re arguing about?

Must be because I see screeching on my timeline from D about people dying from this shutdown
