Can’t say I disagree with the sentiment, though. A lot of cancer research has indeed been paused directly because of Trump.

But if you can show me in the constitution where the federal government is tasked with with funding public health research, I may be open to reconsidering my opposition to us relying on a bunch of worthless feds to do this. Maybe if we are lucky, they can fund a new strain in Wuhan that gets released for us all to deal with a few years down the road
Sure, whatever man. I’m not asking you to care about less federal cancer research funding any more than I’d ask thethe to form his own opinion now that Trump can do it for him. But if you’re going to bypass Congressional funding to halt cancer research, a kid with cancer is a weird prop for your political speech.

Of course it's absurd. My father died of cancer. I have consistently gone to bat for pharmacutical companies (while 57 constantly bitches about them) earning profits on their drugs do they they can indeed afford this research.
The federal government has no business in this space. They spend dollars much less efficiently than private business. I want them out. If the fact that we funded the creation of covid doesn't make you at least think twice about governments role here, then you're dumb.
And, even if they weren't incompetent, they are not authorized to steal money from Americans to do this research
So yes... cancel it. And let's cheer for the kid who survived cancer at the same time
That’s not the implication. I understand your reasoning behind a limited federal government and the inflationary effects of government spending. If I thought you were right about that, I’d too oppose most federal expenditures. My point wasn’t to take budget hawks to task. It’s that the same people who rammed through cancer research cuts are very concerned about Democrats not clapping. I happen to think it was stupid of them not to honor the kid. Poor governance and politics from the Dems. But in terms of ****ty things someone did to kids with cancer, Trump is way ahead.

I don't know the specifics of this kids circumstances... but if you're implying that the difference in him being alive or dead is the federal government, then I will reiterate that you are retarded
My personal gripe is the stopping of funding that was already passed into law by a Republican Congress. The government is going to stick to the taxes it’s making me pay for this year and I think it’s garbage that they’re going to cut a bunch of the funding that I already paid my taxes on.

Do some volunteer work in children's cancer wards or if you haven't the stomach to see these children we are talking about, go sit with their parent at the end of the day. then we can have this discussion

I am actually not opposed to no longer funding the conflict in Ukraine. I still think Russia was wrong, Ukraine has every right to do whatever it wants to defend itself, that Zelenskyy should allow for an election/referendum from the public to see if they support his continued leadership/the war and ultimately kind of think the ship has sailed on this conflict.
But like, we could also just not buy as many new bombs, even if we give some away.
