I'm not expecting a fantastic return.
Then why trade him? We might need the depth later in the season. Put him in the BP and let him be our right handed Terry Mulholland
He has very little experience relieving. And has claimed in one past episode that relieving caused an injury that let to him losing effectiveness. Maybe he will go willingly into the pen and be effective. But I have my doubts.
We do have some younger starters who can provide depth: Hale, Martin, Schlosser, Rodriguez, Graham.
Outside of Hale, not very confident in many of those guys starting.
Hale is more of a bullpen pitcher than starter imo.
Trading Harang does no good even if/when he declines.
I don't see any of Hale, Martin and Schlosser as stars. I see them as solid depth though. Sixth starter types to be stashed in AAA or long men for the pen. As we've seen this year, having some guys like that in the system can come in handy.
Minor to make one more rehab start on Friday.
Would put him in line to debut next Wed or Thu.
Wonder if they will skip Hale with the days off on Thursday and Monday.
I agree but not like we're gonna get a stud BP arm for Harang.
Doesnt make much sense to trade him.

more due to the other starters having too much time between starts than any any setback from Minor, I think.
It does if he hasn't changed his issue with pitching in relief, and I agree with nsacpi in having doubts that he will accept a bullpen role. I have even noted he dodges such questions in interviews the same way he did in LA, then when it came about he basically asked to be traded. That of course later happened. I could see the same playing out with us at some point.
I was going to put this in the GDT, but it's not up yet.

We all agree that Hale deserved a better fate today. In fact, he did nothing to deserve to lose his spot in the rotation.
But the fact of the matter is that Minor is a potential all-star who is ready to go and is not a rebuilt arm like the other injuries. He is fine, healthy and scheduled to start Saturday. What do Fredi (and Wren) do?
Put Hale in the bullpen, send Schlosser down to start and build up his arms and innings?
Send Hale down to keep working in a regular rotation?
Trade Harang?
Put Harang in the bullpen?
Send another pitcher down (Varvaro)?
Put Kimbrel on DL and make sure he's OK?
Put Avilan on the DL and make sure his hamstring isn't a bigger problem that it was thought at first to be?
Any of these (except Harang, of course) seem like plausible options depending on what they know that we don't know.
This isn't a poll, but a platform for debate. Trolls, naysayers and troublemakers are welcome to join in.
