DOTW 7/3/'14: Team's chances after this current winning streak.

They've won the last two and are essentially tied...not sure what else qualifies. I want the Braves to win it, but if they don't I won't be surprised.

Do you understand what a feat it is to split a series against a good team on the road? And do you also understand that the Braves are in first place? In no way do the Nats "have the ball."

I understand that a loss is a loss and no matter how you try to feel better about it its still a loss. And the half game does not really exsist. They are essentially tied.

Remember that thread "hello second place."

Here's a link in case you can't remember.

Would it be fair to say the thread should have been titled "Hello Essentially Tied for First Place"

Just wonderin

There is no half game. We are up by a full game as we speak.

Still full of ****?

In most circumstances a split against a quality team like that on the road is great. It's bit great when we were up 2-0 though.

Lmao. Our weak schedule during our winning streak? What about theirs? Theirs has been weaker than ours IMO. What the hell makes them soooo special that y'all are afraid of those pussies? We have won. 7 in a row in MLB baseball, do y'all have any idea how hard that is to do!? Fck a Dback, fck a Bryce Harper, fck a Pattio Daddio, and fck a Wash National .... I like this teams chances right now.

Nope, its only a full game because of todays Nats loss. Not some newb.

Duh. We are in first. The Nats do not have any greater momentum over us right now. They're not even in first place.

Go home or quit being so annoying. Your act is getting old. At least Niners has a sense of humor.

I really don't think we're as good as our record. More like a.500 team. Look at the run differential for proof. It was -0 a few days ago.

We only have one starter that you can count on, and only a couple of relievers.

Our CF is terrible, and our 3b and ss have OBP below .300. Our bench sucks, all of it. Our 2b is an untested rookie. The only one of our remaining 7 positional starters producing better than last year (Gattis) is hurt.

I usually trend toward optimism, BTW.

That's rediculous. One pitcher we can count on are you kidding me. Minor will right the ship and Santana seems to be back on track Wood has continued his good work as a starter and if harang is your fifth starter I'm not worried about it. The pen has writed itself and were starting to actually hit.

No, you don't. Your analysis is galactically retarded.

Our 3B finished second in the NL in hitting last year. Our defense-first SS contributes periodically with the bat, and was quite good the last half of last year. Ryan Doumit and Gerald Laird are good bench players, Schafer has his moments as well. Freddie and Justin are having fine years, not just Gattis.

Our rotation is among the best in the NL perennially, and is again this year despite three devastating injuries. The bullpen, which blew seven games over three weeks, is fixed and looks great again. Give us back five of those seven wins and we've got the best record in baseball.

If you get murdered a couple times, and we did, run differential gives you a false read.

No way this is a .500 team. Before they got rocked by injuries, it was a 95-100 win club. Now it's only a 92 win club. But it's still a fine club.

BJ does suck. I'll give you that. And Uggla is taking up a bench spot that could be better filled by you or me. The rest of your comments, however, are full of fail.

It's hard to say we're not as good as our record because our record is what it is. This team has done a good job winning close games over the past few seasons due to having a top-tier closer, good to very good set-up guys, and a good defense at a couple of key positions.

But other than that, I think this is a valid critique. This is a team that has to play well to win. It's not a team that can mail it in and I don't think this team is all that fundamentally sound at the plate. La Stella has helped, no question, but there's still a lot of scuffling going on.

In other words, it's going to boil down to how well we pitch. The bullpen's recovery over the last couple of weeks has been key and they are going to continue to need to perform if we are going to prosper.

Our team has a bunch of fighters. Can't knock those guys for that. Despite the Ks and what not our team does have a certain fire to it.

Another tough day on the run diff scale. We squeezed by with a 6-run victory; however, our nemesis, the Nats, really thumped the Cubs, 13-0.

There is no way we can compete unless we start closing the run diff gap. Quite frankly, I don't see it.

Regression to the mean. We are better than we were playing, but we probably aren't as good as we're playing now. Last night is a perfect example.. It's nice to score 10 runs in a game you give up 4.

We'll regress the other way soon enough. So will the Nats. The two teams are very close.

Yeah I have noticed this as well. A scrappy bunch for sure. I am not sure what it is. Maybe losing veterans like McCann and Hudson light a fire under some of the younger guys. The way they have been playing you wouldn't expect them to be one of the younger teams in baseball.
