It is larger than typical. But these rebenchmarks are often in the hundreds of thousands. For example, the BLS in August issued a preliminary estimate of the rebenchmark for March 2022, and for the private sector it was 571,000. Up 571,000. Was this a conspiracy on the part of the BLS to make the numbers look bad? Kinda doubt it.

Ok. I was confused then.

But the establishment survey IS rebenchmarked every year. It is not a conspiracy that causes this to happen. It is part of the process once more complete data become available.
