I think libertanianism makes a positive contribution. We can take the connectedness and externalities business to absurd extremes. But it is just as absurd to pretend that each man is an island unto himself.

When it comes to society's obligations to children it bears keeping in mind that children don't get to choose the circumstances into which they are born. If we can take some measures to reduce the inequalities inherent in that without destroying incentives to work then we should do it. We should obviously take care not to create perverse incentives.

The ideology lacks the ability to comprehend nuance and the reality of the world around them.

Underlying principles are sound though.

Nuance and reality are vague enough terms that should cover every scenario where politicians are challenged to justify their policy.

Why debate when you can condescend instead

I’ve outlined nuance and real world scenarios with something as basic as not supporting a communist dictatorship. But that doesn’t deter the libertarian mindset.

There’s no obligation to agree in a debate.

Here’s some nuance for you. There’s never the “right” answer to any situation with trade offs. The classic “kill one man to save a billion” has many winners and some losers.

There is more right than funding a communist dictatorship that is planning to take over the world. That much I’m certain of.

Oh but what about the GDP figures?? The HUMANITY!!!

Much more fun to hysterically fly off the top rope, though.

When asked for evidence how a trade war has impacted the CCP, it’s a bit annoying for the answer to be an insult.

I know this is how Trump mastered discourse, but it’s frankly a waste of my time. And here I though chopcountry.com was a modern Jacobin Club

What type of data do we get out of the ccp? What is your sense of its reliability?

Such a silly question but you know “you play it honest”.

So no data, no philosophical framework… just destroy our enemies by any means necessary.

Thats okay! But at least acknowledge that the people you are yelling at might just have a valid point of view.

Think the desired result should be pretty simple in that you don't want the CCP to exist.

Guess even that is tough for Libertarians to understand.

Or at the very least stop sending them hundreds of billions of dollars so their desired goals of world domination isn't possible.

The first sentence is fine. It’s more destroy our enemies by any means necessary. Discussing my concerns with runaway inflation probably don’t mean much in that context.

The second sentence makes you come across as an asshole

Thats ok - People dish out but then don't want to take it back.

Its more of the same on this forum for the last 10+ years.

I know you guys are innocent and never play nasty.

Can we at least give some libertarian policies a try before we deem the a total failure and the cause of all the world's problems?

MAGA thinks sending checks to people sitting on their couch is good economics but can't quite articulate why
