Using the CBO to help an economic argument is like using the SPLC to quanitify hate groups. Stupid idea.

This sort of logic is maddening. I have noticed more and more news headlines concerning smaller tax refunds and without fail the explanation for why refunds are smaller have been buried in the article.

High withholding rates have conditioned our country to associate tax refunds with income. It’s one of the cleverest tricks our federal government has conceived to blind us from knowing how much we pay in taxes every year. I wonder what our perception of government spending would be if withholding taxes were eliminated and each taxpayer had to cut a check instead of receiving one.
