Economics Thread

Life is precious. Which is why in my book life expectancy is worth a whole lot. It should also be noted that longer life expectancy is also correlated with better health outcomes. So not just more life. But also better life.
Want to give life expectancy in a shit country is just shit. And Canada has quickly descended into shit

Infant mortality rates: 20% higher in the United States.

Once upon a time (the 1960s) they were about the same.

But we haven't been able to keep up. Not with Canada or a bunch of other countries.

Buy Rogue dummy.

Shipping is still sky high on that stuff bc it’s freight

Rogue doesn't do custom pieces like Oak Club.

I emailed back and forth with the owner for weeks on what I wanted. Colors, etc.
Oak Club is a premium boutique fabricator.

Rogue is a mass marketed brand.

I have rogue equipment. As well as REP.

Also, Rogue doesn't make everything in USA.

Mom and pop using global shipping

What you’re telling us is they are just a big drop shipper. Oh they “fabricate”? Meaninf they select one of thousands of available molds? Sophisticated!

Yes.

I assume you don't know anything about the home gym market in 2026. Its not total gym, bowflex, and rogue fitness anymore.

There are many small owned mom and pop fabricators in the US and Canada that make custom specialized pieces. These are single owners that have their own shop some out of their backyard and some out of a fabrication shop and take 7-8 weeks+ to make your custom order..

Oak Club MFG is based out of Canada and they are the Mercedes Benz tier of custom home gym stuff. Expensive but their craftsmanship and quality so far has been worth thr price.

Black Widow (Upstate NY)
Mutant Metals (Massachusetts)
Cara Cara Metals (Texas)
Bremmy Metals (Virginia)
JD Gym Equipment (New York)
Straydog (Texas)
WM Fab (North Carolina)

These are all people you can talk straight to the owner. And they make the pieces in house where Rogue and REP are like Walmart and target. Some pieces are US but many are also out of China.

I have messaged and called talked to many of these shop owners personally. Some are so busy with workloads they can't make custom pieces for a few months.

The quality from these people are gonna be way better than Rogue or REP. And I don't mind paying a little extra.

Oak Club is premium boutique quality. People like myself have no problem paying for their product.

And I have spent money on all these companies + more for smaller attachments.

When you say “in house” do you really mean a factory overseas does everything and they facilitate shipping?

Theee factories have thousands of molds to choose from.

Premium boutique and gym equipment don’t go together

It’s coated metal, not a club scene.

But some people like their cucumbers pickled

2k plus for a squat rack is … something.

No.

They build them in house dude.

They custom make them. These fabricator shops are owned by metal and ironsmiths...

This is Ryan from CaraCara metals building pieces out of his garage built in his backyard.

OakClub handcrafts their pieces in house. They aren't dropshipped. Nor imported from China.

Don’t buy from Canada is the simple solution here - placed has turned to shit from migration anyway.

It also wouldn’t be the first company to embellish on their fabrication when it’s all done overseas.

Also wonder where this Canadian company gets all their input materials.

Rogue may build a lot of their racks in house but they import everything else from China to offset costs.

If you've never compared the difference in craftsmanship in quality from mass manufactured stuff from REP or Rogue, versus the attention to detail from someone like Black Widow or Oak Club, then don't speak on what you know or go to homegymcon and compare.

Homegym quality is now to the point you have commercial grade equipment at home.

Small shops like Oak Club and Black Widow make custom pieces, custom colors, custom lengths that REP and Rogue don't offer.

You're talking with the owner of the small shop who's actually gonna make it for you and design what you're asking.

So if the other American shops aren't able to fulfill my order or custom pieces I want, even though I'm spending thousands, and the Canadian company which I've already done business with is able to take my order even if it's a bit more expensive but I know the quality will be great I should simply either not spend my money at all or spend money on US shop that's 4-6 months out of doing my order.

It's out of Alberta so it's definitely Canadian steel.

Just silly to blanket statement the quality is shit.

And here you are saying don't order from Canada because of things unrelated to the product, but toute Saudi Arabia, Russia, etc... lol

Oh you can buy it from there - You just have to pay more.

Consumption has its benefits and it has its costs.

"Canadian Steel' is just Chinese inputs.

Which is fine.

I paid the premium for it.

But like I said, I'm glad Lutwick's sons will get the tariff reimbursement since they were connected.

Just the admin ripping people off even more.

I’m sure tariffs will be net neutral and nobody outside of us based and operated businesses will benefit.
