Guys - You have to crack some eggs to make an....

Take your pretend victory lap right now. You won't like where this ends up by the end of the year.

I recognize that nothing is going to convince you this is a terrible plan.

You will always have the ability to say "in the future it will work out... and if it doesn't, claim it wasn't given enough time

but this is a disaster of a plan... and seriously risks 2026 if he goes through with it for a long time

my prediction is that markets will react so poorly, that Trump will announce some deal he made to cancel the tariffs, and MAGA will tell us what a genius negotiation it was, even though nothing will have changed

Just wait til the Gas Strain hits.

Remember when we were promised cheaper gas and cheaper eggs and bigger paychecks and the best economy. Only thing Trump is helping is my 401K go further.

I figured he would have soften his position by now. I think he fully intends on going through with this and I’m worried he is to insulated to actual criticism that he’s gonna stick with this for a while. We’re gonna see how much people will tolerate price increases.

I think there’s gonna be a lot of people that wait to make big purchases like that because they expect (or in case) Trump lifts tariffs. It’s a self fulfilling prophecy.

But when Trump does lift them, the market will explode to all time highs and thethe will take a victory lap.

Remember when Tesla doubled after the election?

Almost all of those gains have disappeared and Tesla is down 4% pre-market today

Brutal

one thing that could help mitigate this disaster for trump, is an impending recession and market correction will likely lead to the fed lowering rates

(I don't think that would be a good thing... but they will if it gets bad enough)

Isn't this what Trump ran on? I heard him say tariffs like a million times. I have no idea how this plays out, but it shouldn't be unexpected.

True. No one should be surprised by this. But he also promised in his campaign that other countries would pay the tariffs, not Americans. That reality check is incoming.

All the gains from the election are gone

I sold pretty heavily in January and holding a lot more cash than I usually do. I’m not sure when I’ll feel comfortable jumping back in. Market has been headed for a massive correction for a long time now.

I'm sure you'll evaluate after a hefty period like a month or two!

My prediction is similar to your overreaction to the Department of Education comments that you will take the negative argument on all of this moving forward.
