Economics Thread

Can you give me a listing of all products that have increased in price right now?

Can you then compare that to what it will look like in 2-4 years when manufacturing is shifted here and/or better trade deals are established?

If you want to take a simplistic view to analyze unwinding 40+ years of globalists concentrations of wealth at the expense of the US Middle class then by all means please do it. You are entitled to be wrong.

We literally received emails from producers who have products made in Canada saying that they're going to go up in prices the next time they have to order them.

You can't pull oil from thin air, you can't pull maple from thin air, you can't grow Avocados wherever you want them.

We're not losing good jobs to Canada or Mexico. We lost our workforce to the University industrial complex and need to pivot our economy. Not try to bring things back to the way they were 70 years ago. Because those factory jobs will be fully replaced by automation.

I believe last Trump term his admin reformed the tax code- which wasn't done via budget bill and was much harder to undo if memory serves.

This dumb cunt thinks the president can set the tax code.

https://www.investopedia.com/taxes/...t the corporate,levied on pass-through income.

It was a law passed by congress. Read the constitution dumb dumb.

16th Amendment

"The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration."

I mean this was obviously gonna happen. Same story as term 1.

What are the point of tarrifs? To drive economic growth long term in the US? Or to negotiate some undefined, unannounced, victory?

I hope the WH intern tasked with researching concessions previously made by Canada and Mexico to pretend Trump won that concession is having an interesting day at least.

Therewl are very few things aesthetically.dumber -epstein binders being one of them - than making a big announcement Monday on tarrifs going into effect on Tuesday then announcing Tuesday night you might roll them back on Wednesday

Some helpful context on the misleading tweet that it was just 'whoops lets roll this back'.

once again... if tariffs are designed to punish foreign foreign commerce... why roll it back?

if they are meant to bring economic pain to everyone in order to accomplish some unrelated goal... well that's a different strategy entirely

Because the tariffs on Canada and Mexico are not intended to do that - Do I have to repeat myself 50 times or 100? You tell me...

I thought the tariffs on Canada were to keep out fentanyl, and tariffs on Mexico to keep out illegal migrants and drugs also

To be fair, from what I can tell you repeat whatever it is Donald Trump most recently said about tariffs which is 2 or 3 different things depending on where we are in the cycle of threatening, issuing or suspending them.

what are they meant to do? and please explain how that potential outcome outweighs the economic pain they definitely do

It’s going to be an exhausting four years if you’re just going to constantly declare that every Trump policy will bear fruit… eventually… and that any evidence to the contrary is a lie.

You don’t hate the media enough and it shows

Can you explain the math on the 20K increase as it relates to the tariffs?
