It’s cute you guys think it’s a good idea to just give up manufacturing to China as we move into the future.

Nobody serious was claiming this. What has been said is that the tariffs are exclusively paid for within the host nation, first by the companies importing the goods, then later by all of us who need to buy the now more expensive things. Collapsing the economies of other nations when we don’t buy the goods they’re producing is just a fun little side effect.

The majority of the impact of tariffs go on the exporting nation. Currency devaluation is just one aspect that bears this out. I’ll wait to see all these massively exploding prices we are promised as a result.

The math has been handled, it has nothing to do with tariff rates by other countries and is instead exactly what it has been claimed to be by critics: trade deficit on goods divided by exports.
