We are still going to end with better trade deals and stronger alliances with our allies while further isolating China. Not as far as I wanted to go but I doubt when the former happens anyone will say good job Trump b
What is a "better trade deal"? More tariffs?

Bc their biggest and most valuable exports are being exempted? And worse, the exemption doesn't cover the parts, so there is zero incentive to bring manufacturing home to the US

The parts will be sourced elsewhere so the whole idea is to not let the ccp profit off of the manufacturing supply chain change.

Their whole economy is export based so just because the largest sector is exempted doesn’t mean it still isn’t a significsgb blow.

But sure - they got off the easiest.

We already see the tea leaves with the moved India and Vietnam are making.

China will be in a much worse position (something you agreed to) after this is all done.
I can acknowledge there could be some positives that come from this.

That doesn’t mean I think it was worth the massive price we paid.

For that reason, don’t expect me to say please and thank you

Vietnam said they’d shut loopholes down for Ccp drop ships and India said they’d tear down their tariff walls.

But I’m sure you’ll ignore that just like the MTD budget deficit and MTD inflation data.

So apple is going to pay 10% tarrifs on parts to bring to the US then pay employees 20x to build the phone they can just import directly from China for free?

Tim Apple is dumber than I thought

The deal is the deal and when markets return and we have better deals we will be in a great position. There is no alternative universe where we can say these ends are achieved any other way

To offload from the most unreliable trading partner in the world while also building AI and robotics plants?

Yes absolutely.

I’m just happy Scott Bessent exists. I’ll be sure to send him a please and thank you

They built the largest and most valuable company in human history off unreliable trade partners?

Sure, fella. I know it hurts to know that Tim Apple made a phone call and your America first leader gave him what he wants... but that's what just happened

I swear he must think Tim Cook and Mark Zuckerberg and Jeffrey Bezos having the ear of the President must be so that they can give each other mutual strategic advice to improve America or something.

Let me check with Grok

Apple relies heavily on China for manufacturing, with estimates suggesting around 80-90% of its production capacity, particularly for iPhones, iPads, and MacBooks, is based there. The majority of assembly is handled by Taiwanese firms like Foxconn, Pegatron, and Wistron, operating massive facilities in cities like Zhengzhou and Shenzhen. Over 95% of iPhones are reportedly assembled in China, with a single plant in Zhengzhou, known as "iPhone City," producing up to 80% of global iPhone supply at times. China's dominance stems from its skilled labor force, extensive supply chain network, and infrastructure, which allows rapid scaling—something other countries struggle to match. For instance, Chinese factories employ over a million workers and can source components from a dense network of local suppliers, with 40-47% of Apple’s global suppliers based in China as recently as 2021.

I’m still waiting to hear how China got off easier than say India. I’ll be waiting
Pharma tariff still coming right?

Seems like that will be quite a big kick in the nuts for India.

Apple has been trying to build manufacturing in India for 10 years and last fall was the first time they were able to manufacture the high end iPhone.

It is a fantasy that companies only manufacture in China because it’s the cheapest (it hasn’t been for years).

You said “built”

I’m assuming then apple either wasn’t a company or wasn’t a big company before Chinese manufacturing.

Or maybe you want to rephrase your point
