Economics Thread

The messaging yesterday was Apple and Nvidia were “rushing to onshore” but they needed time, so exceptions were necessary.

Lutnick is now saying these industries are so important we can’t negotiate them. That’s why they need special tariffs. Are they permanent? No one knows.

When are they coming? In a month “or so”. Really couldn’t have figured this out before you implemented this plan.

Again, even if you like the policy or if you like the strategy, there’s no excuse for how awful this messaging has been.

And how are we supposed to take Lutnick at his word that these special tariffs are coming? He and Navarro have been saying things in these interviews that were directly contradicted by the actions of the Trump admin

While I happen to agree, to be somewhat fair, I’ve always found this a silly measure of the economy. It is helpful for determining consumer sentiment, but I’d see this more as a lagging indicator than a leading indicator because consumers are at times very dumb.

No 'cave' as has been described!

Getting exactly what I voted for!

Pain followed by the Golden Age - To think China is a reliable partner for the free world is woefully ignorant. I'm aware that wall street loves China though.

NOBODY will care about what happened in mid 25 when the economy is roaring in Q1 26.

About that insider trading now….
Friday - Exception list released
Saturday - Stephen Miller “still subject to 20% fentanyl tariff”
Sunday AM - Nutlick “exceptions are temporary. Permanent tariffs coming in 1-2 months”
Sunday PM - Trump “there was never an exception. It’s fake news”

Chaos and clowns.

How times has it been “over” for Trump and maga the last 10 years?

This time for sure the skeptics will be right? Right?
