Economics Thread

All this will end up being is market share from one company to the other.

The rise of drop shippers weren't 100% new market. Its an allocation of decisions from one company to the next. Sales for a drop shipper also means reduced sales for another business.

Oddly, we don't hear the tears about other American businesses put out of business or losing market share as a result of these companies.

Drop Shipping was a 90.5 billion dollar business last year, if we assume they're being keystoned roughly (I know they aren't because of shipping) but let's say it's not even say these buisinesses only netted half a billion in profit and china was responsible for 90 billion. then it's only 20% of China's output to the US. You keep saying "Drop shippers" and yes it's a huge growing segment is people selling dumb shit on TikTok Shop, Temu, etc. Amazont hemselves have gotten into the game. But 90 billion is nothing compared to what companies like Apple, Google, etc. generate.

Your goal is to shoot ourselves in the foot to spite the CCP. Just say that, don't pretend it's anything else you keep trying to point to other positives, there aren't any. WE're not bringing back manufacturing jobs en masse. Nor should we be looking to. We should be looking to develop our economy. You're right some people need to work in a factory and we still ahve those jobs here. But not everything needs to be made here and shooting good businesses in the foot because they have a longstanding relationship with CHina, is stupid. If you want to tariff things from non-US companies, that's one thing. But this scorched earth strategy is going to lead to a lot of good people losing their jobs.

Much how trunp knows his supporters are retarded and will go along with whatever he says... leftists similarly understand their voters are retarded

There's a huge difference between a senator writing a letter, and the president who has an insane army of cultists using social media to rally them. I give it t minus 1 day before people say Powell is an Epstein Island Pedophile.

I disagree. It’s either wrong to politicize the Fed in this way or it isn’t. A lot of the plays Trump is running right now economically would have looked right at home in the Democrats playbook over the past 20 years and it’s not really any less bad for them to do the same stuff.

Do these drop shippers happen to buy things for their business or personal use? Because the economy isn’t built for those people to suddenly exit it because we put them out of business through Executive Order.

I mean I think it's stupid. But comparing genocide to murder is silly.

At the end of the day, genocide is just really successful murdering. It’s more impactful when Trump does it, but I don’t think it’s silly to call Warren out for Trump asking for the same thing she did.

Everyone - "The system is broken and needs fixing"

Everyone also - "Why did Trump break the system!?!?!?"

I am fine with upsetting the status quo but making things cost more and increasing the advantage of the biggest companies in the world at the expense of the small businesses wasn’t the way I’d choose to do it.
